As much as I dislike(d) tyson, he was bad-ass and ferrocious.

Alas, we miss that kinda of stuff.

Hollyfield, and Lewis were ferrocious in a sense. but, we have lacked that for a while.

    :patsch

I'll say Haye. Partly because I believe it and partly because it'll be amusing to see how many cries of 'nuthugger' will appear below my comment...

Doesn't look likely so far. Hoping for another Tyson could take forever.

It seems that all that power and tenacity in the heavies are U.S born. And unfortunately all of our large athletes are playing football and basketball. For now we are in the midst of the slower calculating eastern Europeans.

I can't speak for other countries, but I believe in America its unlikely because kids aren't really introduced to boxing that much anymore. Nowadays are biggest, strongest, most ferocious athletes and competitors want to play football or basketball, not box.

To follow on from your point- this is happening everywhere. I think I'm safe in saying that you almost certainly don't give a **** about cricket but the West Indies (the name the Carribean compete with in cricket matches) are having real trouble with this at the moment. Their next generation of cricketers are dwindling as, like you say, there are bigger prizes in America's top sports.

It's a sad state of affairs but boxing is by no means on the decline, IMO.

arreola seems pretty damned ferrocious. unfortunatly the amature ranks do not produce bangers any more. the computerised scoring system favors guys who throw quick straight punches high on the head. body puches and punches on the jaw are harder to see from every angle(and you need 4 out of 5 judges to see it land). hard to unlearn to play tag when you turn pro.

For now, Haye is the closest candidate. He's definitely not like Tyson but then again, who is. :bbb

Yes true. It's much more a global sport than 20 years ago, and with the fall of the Soviet Union we have seen a lot of professionals coming from that way.

Who can blame guys for playing football or basketball. They have probably 25-50 times the chance to become a millionaire. Without the major risk of brain injury. However in poverty stricken areas who gives a **** at least theres a shot.

Not to mention you can hardly find any gyms anymore.

Ferrocious HW's are fun to watch, but always end up getting pummeled by crafty boxers when they step up the competition.
