It is the champions in the UFC only fight the guys ranked #1 or they go up or down a division to challenge another champion Wish we had something like that in boxing, I think if we had a WBSS every year for every weight class it would make the sport a lot more entertaining

I want to see Spence fight at least 1 or 2 fights before he gets in against Crawford. If he fights TC in his first fight back and loses the accident excuse will be used. It may be used anyway.

 

Spence is not going to fight on ESPN only on Fox PPV.

There is absolutely zero indication that Spence is "recovering quickly" despite what the OP says.

He hasn't done a public interview or posted a pic to IG since the accident. He's F'd up, probably badly. This is more than just broken teeth and lacerations. There very well could be serious tissue damage.

It's much more likely that he comes back at 154lbs as some form of his previous self, but not the same man. There's a chance that Haymon knows he's damaged goods and takes the last payday by feeding him to TopRank for the execution. That's probably more lucrative than feeding him to someone in the PBC stables, BUT it's only a one shot payday.

If you feed his remains to Garcia or Porter it could be a springboard to some bigger fights for them.

 

For me Crawford is clearly better than Spence, who I rate at 2 in the welterweights. It's only Spence's size that is his advantage. Unless Crawford moves to pbc, this ain't happening. I don't see that happening either due to the disrespect pbc shows Crawford.
