I'm not sure there is an old AJ or a young AJ. There's just the AJ that Ruiz exposed. However, I can't see todays AJ getting off the canvas to beat Wlad so,,,,,,,

Tyson Fury’s performance against Wallin was worse than Joshua's performance yesterday.

That was the old AJ last night, no finesse or ring craft. Yes there was a jab popping out now and then but no real snap or venom behind it. He should have been using last nights fight as a showboat of what he has learned from his previous losses, what he has been working on in training.
Nothing new, just same old flat footed bodybuilder, there's an old saying in boxing "boxers don't have heels"!

Completely agree, new is the same as old, if not worse.

If he starts at the beginning, has a rubber with Ruiz, and exorcises those demons, it can happen.

In all seriousness, instead of hiring a new trainer for every fight, he might want to look into seeing a psychologist. He needs to work on himself, inside and out, not just out. It seems like he needs a rebuilding, internally.

There is no old AJ. There's only ever been one. The bully who feasted on bums who was nowhere to be seen when he stepped up in competition. He's not as good as was sold. Happens all the time in boxing.

I thought his fight against an olld Vladimir Klitschko was a great fight. I think the Ruiz fight changed him.

I highly doubt it but I don't think it's impossible. He's definitely not what he once was. There's no doubt about that.

The old “AJ” is never coming back.

His current level is typical of a fighter who who has taken a few losses, achieved massive wealth and doesn’t even need to be in a professional boxing ring anymore.

You can’t find that edge again once it’s lost. It’s been lost because of the losses and the wealth he has achieved.

Can a psychologist change someone’s brain into thinking they are poor again and need to strive to become a world champion and millionaire? As that was the edge he had on the way up.

The other issue he has is the psychological scars of being bounced up and down by Ruiz Jr. That won’t go away either through a psychologist. Self preservation always overrides mind babble

He can regain his confidence and motivation but it still will vanish when he's met with proper resistance.

He's the 5th best heavyweight in the world who used to be the 3rd best in the world. We overstate his fall from grace.

I do think opponents give him less respect than they used to though. The fear factor went after Ruiz smashed him.

It's because hes scared of getting hit in there, nothing to do with how much money he's made.

He's just scared stiff and has no confidence in taking a shot anymore.

I believe once that happens it's game over for good.
