sounds like a great conspiracy. why wouldn't floyd go after sergio if he wins?

I dont see the point of the fight but if I was mayweather I dont see why not to take the fight. He already convincingly beat cotto and has a chance to win the lineal mw title in an incredibly winnable rematch. That being said I cant imagine him supporting a mw frame

It's quite possible, but would any serious boxing fan or pundit consider the winner to be the legitimate MW lineal titlist if such a fight were to happen?

Duckweather should of accepted martinez challenge years ago but being true to his name he avoided him ...........

I have a sneaky feeling if cotto wins duckweather will try to fight him at catchweight typical duckweather

I think we get Mayweather-Alvarez II at MW before Mayweather-Cotto II. I think Cotto has a decent chance to win tonight vs Martinez, but I think Alvarez if/when he beat Lara will get the Cotto-Martinez winner. Although July is awhile away and a long time for Mayweather to make a deal if he takes on the winner. I think should Alvarez beat Lara he'll be the Undisputed MW Champ by next year

I hope we don't get it let's have mayweather vs a young hungry fighter not an ageing fighter that he has already beaten

but the cotto bout was much more competitive then the alverez bout was and i cant see how they could sell another mayweather alverez bout seeing as how the first fight was a easy shut out for mayweather on the other hand i think they could e zly sell a 2nd mayweather cotto fight cause cotto had a few moments in said bout and they will speculate on how much better he will do at the higher and (more comfortable) weight for him i really cant see this fight not happening if cotto beats martinez

Me personally I gave Cotto about 3rds and Alvarez 4, I think either around 158/9 would sell under the argument that there at a more comfortable weight we've clearly seen Alvarez is a bigger draw than Cotto (2.2/1.5) then if I think more people will buy that Alvarez wasn't in his prime and is closer now than Cotto being back to form. Again though Cotto fights this week and Alvarez and the end of July so its more time to make that fight I just think Alvarez fights the Cotto-Martinez winner first. Mayweather will have atleast one rematch in his last three fights its comes down to

Alvarez beating Lara/Cotto beating Martinez and the Alvarez-Cotto winner landing the fight
    for the Undisputed MW Title.

Or Maidana beating Thurman in Sept (rumored to be the co headliner) and becoming the interim WBA Champ and Mandatory for Mayweather.

I think I should note though I think Mayweather vs Cotto-Martinez winner this fall is the best fight he could take and should happen regardless the outcome

In some people's mind, everyone is a cherry pick for Floyd except for Pacquiao and middleweights. So he might as well just keep cherry picking!! lol

I can see this happening, and would definitely tune in if it did. If Martinez won Floyd might not go for it, considering the size difference between the two. One may ask why Cotto and not Martinez, Cotto is not a full MW while Martinez been fighting at the weight for some time now.

As a Floyd fan, I'd be disappointed in him rematching Cotto at 160 and not fighting Martinez at 160. I'd lose a lot of respect.

not me I think that just the fact that we are discussing Mayweather not only fighting for a MW tittle but discussing it in a way that projects him as the winner of said bout is amazing and speaks volumes about how great he really is and I for one could not have more respect for the man
