Well, this it, isn't it, Finkel?

Just how much bigger can they get?

If you take both the average and the biggest heavyweight from 1945, then 1975, then 2005, and now in 2021, I'd suggest each time they have gotten taller, heavier, with longer reach.

    Who cares?

    What a wonderfully nuanced position.

lol...that's what I'm driving at, though.

Imagine, the average heavyweight is like Valuev in 30 or 40 years.

Well, I care for boxing giants welfare as much as you care for my welfare. It is what it is. I was responding to a question you asked. That's my opinion. Why I have an opinion that excludes huge people? It will produce a better product. Heavyweights would need to be disciplined enough to make weight, ensures they come into fights in better shape. No more watching 2 giants sucking wind and hugging up on eachother after the 3rd round. The boxing community has no issue excluding extra small people from fighting. I don't see you wanting a sub 100lb division. Many people, including myself, don't want to watcth that and don't care if tiny people fight or not. In fact, most would perfer if they didn't.

I really have no positive response to this so I'll leave it at that.

You can make sub categories such as anything above 225lb can be classified as a superheavyweight

but the fact is a world class 210 pound Heavyweight could beat a world class 260 pound heavyweight though it would be difficult.

Unpopular opinion but i feel like we're reaching a size cap. Heavyweights aren't increasing in size anywhere near as fast as they did in the 90s and it's only continuing to get slower. There are a more 6'7 or 6'8 heavyweights around with the average modern heavyweight being almost the size of Lennox Lewis but i don't see the size increasing much anymore. There were multiple 6'7 heavyweights in the 90s and multiple 6'5-6,'6 ones as well as in the early 2000s. There's just more around today. Imo the average size of a heavyweight will be about 6'6, 245 pounds before the growth in heavyweights starts getting stagnant.

    Highly doubtful.
But yes, it would be reasonable to do something then.

Well, you say it's doubtful - but every generation heavyweights are getting bigger.

Joe Louis was heavyweight champion now it's Fury and Joshua.

There's a big height, weight, snd reach difference between Joe and those two.

In 60 years Fury may look small for heavyweight.

They could be over 7ft tall and weigh over 300 pounds.

If boxing ever creates a weight class above heavyweight it will be the beginning of the end for the sport.
Even cutting off heavyweight on the bottom is a bad idea but not as bad as a new top division.
All the history (a big part of the draw) will become irrelevant.
The heavyweight division should be 200 + but nothing beyond 220 +.
Creating new divisions on top would only be for short term greed.
Less divisions and less sanctioning bodies are the only viable road for boxing.

And as long as basketball is around. Guys over 7 feet will not go into boxing on a regular basis.
