Jared Anderson is a possibility. He's 23 now and Usyk, Fury, Wilder and Joshua will all be long gone before he turns 30.
Anderson has defensive deficiencies, not doubt about that. But someone is going to be the top of the pile in 5 years time when Usyk, Fury, Wilder and Joshua are gone and it could be him, while still in his 20s.
If Anderson is top of the pile in 5 years time then I probably wont be watching heavyweight. Anderson, Dubois, Hrgovic if this is the future of HW boxing then I'm already out. Such a massive step down from Usyk, Fury, Joshua, Wilder etc.
Jared Anderson is on the verge of mentally checking out, if he hasn't already. He's been saying how he's burned out, and he's talking about retiring by 26 or 27.
Let's imagine a dynamic early 20s heavyweight bursts onto the scene, think a Mike Tyson or Ali. Besides Usyk, do you really think the other three top heavys of the division would entertain giving that guy a fight? The excuses would vary from the fight needs more time to marinate and it will happen in due time (Wilder), he's not worthy or worth his time (Fury), or the fighter is still working on themselves (mid 30s Joshua). It would take an act of god or serious cash to make it happen.
Agree. The only option for such a guy would be the Tyson route. Fight 10 guys a year, KO them all and after 2-3 years everybody is making such a buzz about you that the fight sells itself.
The Problem is that the Promoters and TV Networks are not allowing younger HW to fight the champions or the named top contenders. Its a bit of a closed shop right now, presumably because they are cashing in on their investments. That is not because the younger HWs are worse than the early 30s to early 40s well known names, its because they are operating a closed shop. The recent AJ headline fight and chief support fight highlighted that. No way are you going to tell me that the best contender and chief support fighters should be made up of Washington, Chisora and Hellenius based on merit. Dire.
