The Welterweight division is hands down the hottest division in boxing right now. There's 4 different belt holders, and now I'm starting to wonder if any of the 4 will fight to unify this year.

    Cotto - WBA champ.
He's fighting Gomez next, then he'll fight the winner of Margarito vs. Judah sometime in June/July. So he's booked for the first half of the year. The WBA has also appointed a new WBA Interim champion... so basically a mandatory for Cotto.

Mayweather - WBC & Ring champ.
He's fighting De La Hoya in September, then he'll take the rest of the year off.

    Cintron - IBF champ.
He backed out of the Williams fight with an "injured hand". He says he'll be back in the ring sometime in April. He also has a mandatory to take care of in Joshua Clottey.

    Williams - WBO champ.
He's fighting Quintana on Feb. 2nd. No plans that I know of after that fight.

so.... what possible fights can we realistically expect in '08 between the belt holders?? do you see any unification this year? and who?

I can see the winner of Cintron vs. Clottey fighting Williams later on in the year.... other than that, I can't see anything else.

Cintron Williams needs to happen, the other fights would be too hard to make.
