I liked the Rock. Problem is, he was right inconsistent. He's been in some great fights...Tua...Sanders...Maskaev...Lewis. He seems to forget the training part sometimes and fights down to his competition. Things might have been different if not for the Tua late hit? But I think I remember some poor showings before that? I remember a fight where the announcers were getting on his case. Bowe was in the audience..."Bowe might come out of retirement if this is the future of the heavyweight division" Might have been vs Sullivan???? Also his "thug" routine is tiresome...thinking mainly of the Maskaev rematch. I thought his Klitschko effort was horrible. Out of shape...a payday. vsToney was poor as well. But the ealier Ruiz fight was when I lost interest. I wouldn't think he has anything left.
When he sticks to a gameplan he does well, seems his interest quickly shifts to headhunting if he is set off his gameplan. Funny how the late hit against Tua cost him winning that 1st fight, and in the 2nd fight that nice body shot he landed on Tua was supposedly after the bell but it sent Tua to the canvas. Good ole round 12
Rahman would tap Tua's ass right now. Monte Barrett almost killed him. Rahman, when motivated, easily one of the best heavies of his time. Not ATG status but a top contender. It's a shame he never fully took advantage of his skill set. When he was on, he was damn good. Still overachieved though. Guy didn't step in a ring till he was like, 20. I wish him well and hopefully he gets win #50 and hangs em up. Looks like he may fall short though if he fights Adamek. I see Adamek knocking him out, and I love Rahman.
Interesting I just watched it again, I had swore he hit him to the body. You are right though on the slow mo it's the chin for sure. Good hit, wish It had counted.
I wish, they been talking about all these different opponents but none seem to materialize. I don't know that he's ready to Adamek yet, like to see him soon vs. someone decent
Rock has just two meaningful wins in his career, Sanders and Lewis, and we all know what happened in the rematch v Lewis would've also happened had he rematched Sanders. As for the man, I gotta like him. Honest, good dad, etc, but as a fighter, undedicated in the second half of his career, the part that counted, but always somehow managing to get that one last title shot. He will likely be fighting Haye for the WBA strap in May, not that he's earned it, but somehow the lil ***** Haye will find a way to promote him as title worthy.:rofl If this fight does happen, I'm in Rocks corner all the way though.:deal
This was posted on here a few days ago Haye v Rahman possible (you can probably find the thread easily enough) Makes a fair bit of sense...
I don't think Rock will fight Haye at this stage in his career, it'd be interesting for a round or 2... but I am a huge Rock fan but I think it would embarass him to fight Haye. I'd like to see him stick to older heavyweights.
This is funny....everybody wants Rock now because he is seen as the easiest mark in the WBA rankings. Adamek wants him. Mormeck wants him. Most likely, Haye wants him too. So it looks like Rock is set however this plays out...he's gonna get blown away by one of the above 3 this spring! Maybe he's got a puncher's chance against Mormeck. But I see him taking the pay-day against Adamek unless Mormeck or Haye make a better offer.
