I can't help to think that despite Oscar fighting smaller men in his last two fights, he did not seem as if he was in there to destroy or dominate. I am making a comparison to his younger days when he was usually fighting smaller men, and he had no shame in beating them up (ref both JCC fights). An argument can be said that against Mayweather, he was simply outclassed, but against Forbes, he appeared as if he wanted to take easy and spar 12 rounds. And although he destroyed Ricardo Mayorga, it appeared as if he did that to market an upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather. Don't get me wrong, Oscar put an grade A effort against Mayorga, but he knew he needed an impressive win in order to setup a mega fight with Mayweather. My point being that Oscar for the past few years has been more business savyy in the ring, as well as outside, in order to make the most of the situation. Considering his situation he is in with Pacquiao, from a business stand point, what will benifit Oscar? I think the answer to that question will determine which "Golden Boy" we see tonight; the boxer or owner/promoter. Any thoughts?
I think his plan is to carry Pac throughout the fight much like RJJ did against Tito. He won't go all out as that would diminish his win. He'll try to win comfortably while losing some rounds to create the illusion of the fight being competitive. Then he'll start yapping how he beat P4P #1 in a close fight. I hope Pac changes his plans.
I agree. De La Hoya should be able to stop Pac quite easily, but if he goes for the knockout Oscar will just end up looking like a bully.
Some good points, however it is a catch-22 i believe. If he carries Pac through the fight, you have to think about Pac's stamina and work rate. Oscar can risk loosing it on points if he doesn't do enough, but not too much where he looks like he is bullying Pac. I think also we aren't giving enough credit to Pac. Pac will be the faster fighter who has improved on defense and offense significantly. He may be good enough, plus DLH may be just enough past prime, to where Pac can beat him without assistance.
