Does anyone actually believe Deonkey will actually face Ortiz, The 52 year old heart patient, March 3?

My money is on calling this fight Wilder vs TBA, and a blank screen will be at the press conference in the build-up to the fight with Wilder blabbering on about how he is the baddest heavyweight of all time hybrid crap, yelling "Bong Squad" over and over, with Ortiz popping for some sort of cold or heart med between now and mid February, leaving him yet another voluntary defense vs a professional I don't know what......

    Thoughts?

I think it will happen. Ortiz is a Haymon fighter like Szpilka, Duhaupas, Molina were. Win or lose Haymon keeps the belt. They ran from the Povetkin fight when he was caught doping but they are more than happy to face another known doper even after another failed test, the difference is Ortiz is signed to Haymon.

It is funny how people were talking about Ortiz as the most dangerous and most ducked fighter on planet. But immediately when Wilder was going to fight him people call him 50year old heart patient.
I believe that fight will happen and Wilder wins by late ko/tko after many even rounds or maybe narrow decision.

40/60 chance. I believe he's being forced into this fight against his will. He knows Ortiz is going to shatter his glass chin as soon as he connects..and he will connect.

Wilder doesn't want this fight but as a true Champion he is stepping up to the challenge. Defeating this monster will be one of the greatest recent wins at HW if he can pull it off. But its unlikely to happen since we all know he's going to find a way out of the fight.

Tbh my guess is that there wasn't enough interest (tickets sold etc) in the originally scheduled bout so they fabricated a story to create some bad blood and this enabled Wilder to get his mandatory out of the way and Ortiz to take a tune up while generating more interest this time round.

If they still can't generate enough money from it I think it'll fall apart again...

Shouldn't pay attention to the obvious haters who are saying he's a geriatric.

But having said that people were saying Ortiz may be passed it after the Scott and Allen fights before he signed to fight Wilder. People have just jumped on board and added to those original voices because they hate Wilder, but it doesn't change the fact there is some truth to the possibility Ortiz is now way past his best.

I also thought Ortiz looked noticeably slower in his last fight compared to the Allen and Scott fights. Maybe he was trying too hard to impress but before the KO he was missing shots by a mile. Didn't look like the Ortiz I've seen before but as I said could be he was just pushing too hard for the KO with Wilder in the crowd.

Granpa Ortiz will be banned for high levels of Viagra which is required by many elder gentlemen.

I believe it will end up happening. Although I wouldnt be that surprised if somebody pissed hot first and gets it canceled..

But yeah, I think it ends up happening and Wilder winning

No. He'll find some way to get out of it again. Either an injury or some other nonsense.

Ortiz hasn't looked good in his past few fights, and was inactive for a full year before facing the journeyman in December.

He's getting OLD. Officially he's 38 but some say he's older, well into his 40s.

Wilder avoided Ortiz in the past, but surely he realizes Ortiz is faded now and will go ahead and fight him.

I voted no only BC I've been saying it long before the fight was even addressed.

Though I hope it happens but would probably go for a Fujimoto match to get things going and really turn up the heat in Wilder world. :flaming:

Why wouldn't he? He already signed to fight him, not once, but twice. And it wasn't Wilder's fault that the fight didn't happen the first time.

Wilder will get out of it and fly over to england....after he's landed monster windmill on Ortiz chin which launches him back to Cuba
