Of course. He'll fight Breazeale, Stiverne 3 and then perhaps Whyte if its forced upon him. He'll shout Bombsquad a few times and claim he's being ducked.... Basically rinse and repeat the last 3 years.
No. He's 32 and the Ortiz fight showed his limitations as well as his grit and heart. Live contenders are on the horizon for his WBC belt, he may not be able to fight the likes of Breazeale and co forever and with his technique a decent opponent could mean it's all over. Plus the longer he waits the better AJ is likely to get. He'll lose the advantages of greater experience and potentially he'll start to decline into the bargain. It's in his interests to get this fight now. Win or lose his profile will grow enormously once it's announced. He'll have significant opportunities from it with even a creditable defeat, particularly if as suggested there's a UK and then US fight agreed in advance. The real question is how much they think they can get from AJ and where their red lines are.
I don't think it will happen next. Wilder has been talking about Breazeale and Kownacki as his next opponent while calling out Joshua. Breazeale has pulled out of the mandated IBF eliminator with Pulev, which must mean he'll be fighting Wilder next. But who knows it's still early, they will apparently discuss the fight this week. Joshua is apparently going to the US to get a feel of what's happening on their end to see if he's wasting his time or not.
Will be interesting to hear what the Wilder fans have to say when he ducks AJ after all his big talk.
As someone just mentioned hes 32 and he relies basically on pure athleticism. Hes 2-3 years from hitting a potentially steep decline so i think he goes for it sooner rather than later
If he wants a payday that will eclipse the rest of his career earnings then he'll want it to happen soon enough before his decline begins and he takes an L from someone else. So no
