I wouldn't bet on it, but I have a sneaky feeling it might be. I read ticket sales were slow and over priced. If Fury wants to win, taking another tune up match and pushing this fight back 6 month would help him.
I doubt it. It was never going to sell though was it. Wilder , for some reason isn't really known after 40 fights and a champion, while Fury has a boring style. I don't know the PPV pricing in the US but here in the UK you need to subscribe to BT sports and then buy the PPV on top of that. That's way too much of an outlay for a poor card on top of getting out of bed at 3 am to watch it. If it was like £15 without the subscription I prob would have watched it.
I agree it would suit Fury, but given his past history of delaying and postponing it may hurt him professionally. Not sure how it works if called off, wouldn't the promoters be incurring costs from Staples Centre, Showtime etc? There'd still be a reputational hit alround too because the talk in the industry would be all about poor sales, not whatever injury was blamed. If I were them I'd press on, make sure that there's enough people in the arena by any means possible and really push the two guys in these last couple of weeks. There's plenty of ingredients there for a fight to attract a big audience if they can pitch the message right. Although if it does tank I think the undercard selection should be looked at, very poor for a PPV without either of the headliners having helmed one in the US before...
