Last night Teddy was talking about better fights(opportunities) for Potvetkin had he been patient and declined the Klitschko mandatory defense.

He was talking like this coming fight tween Chag and Pot is a title bout:rofl

OK, I get the WBA super champion,(OK NOT REALLY) but how is it a better fight for him.

And should Wlad beat the winner what would that make him to the WBA, the SUPER DUPER CHAMP?

Eliminators I get because the ranking systems arent always perfect, and sometimes the #7 guy deserves or is better than the #1/2 guy but maybe the #7 had an injury or a poor showing or couldn't get a better name in his recent fight or whatever. SO yeah, I get eliminators.

But to have two HW title belts. :huh

I'd love to see Potvetkin finish the diseased Chagaev, and get another crack at Wlad, but WILL he dare put that prescious paper strap up against Wlad, and what happens if Pot is hurt when Wlad is looking to fight him, so he fights his IBO mand....... Does the WBA strip Wlad of his super status and award it to Potvetkin?:huh

    This could get ugly.......

Methinks Wlad needs to hire a team of lawyers, and pay them to simply keep the WBA, and it's future paper champ in check.

I don't understand how Mendoza and Mendoza Jr fail to see how much this crap ruins WBA's credibility.

Actually, if it was only their credibility I wouldn't mind but they hurt boxing too.

If we all weren't so addicted to boxing, we'd boycott fights like this, totally freeze them out as a way of teaching the WBA a lesson. But instead, we'll all watch the fight and do as the WBA says.

On a positive note, I recently sent the WBA 500 bucks and am now ranked #15 at Super Middleweight, despite having an 0-0 record. It's really impressing the local chicks and was totally worth it.

This is a complete joke. The WBA is an organisation that cares more about the money than the reputation of the belt. How can you have two champions? It is bad for boxing and if I was Wlad I would be seeking my lawyer.

They're simply a marketing tool...Fighters or they're management could simply decide not to pay the 'sanctioning' fees and/or the paid rankings...Although none would seem to have any credibility with fight fans, the television studios and promoters seem to think they do...

I would be so glad if Wlad said "two champions ? OK, but the title has lost half of its value so I will pay only 50% of the fee for my next fight". :finger5

And BTW, two champions is not still enough for the WBA. They can have three champions at the same time. :patsch

The winner will be marketed as a champ, and that's what matters most in boxing.

WBA super champs don't have mandatories so this title is less important than an interim!

Haye was considered one despite there was a legit WBA champ who got brutalized by Wlad (Chagaev). So I guess if Povetkin, already pulled out once, picks up the belt and starts trash-talking, he could pull a Toevid Haye.
