In all seriousness, if there were elite fighters around right now I would probably favour Wlad against them. He has the tools and the potential to be as good as Lennox was.

It's just a shame that he probably won't have the chance to prove our opinions right or wrong, and you can't really rate a fighter's overall greatness on opinions alone. You need results to back it up.

Bowe at least beat a great in his prime, something Wlad has never done. Bowe has only lost once to Holyfield who is a great, Wlad has lost to a nobody in purrity, Sanders a journeyman, Brewster a decent Heavyweight.

Bowe has the better resume, not that I agree with everything Boxrec has to say, Bowe is ahead of Wlad at this time in there ATG list.

I believe that but Wlad is well on his way to being remembered as the best HW of this era and where history places him won't be determined until he retires. I rate Lewis quite highly though, top 5 ATG or top 3, depending on the day you ask :yep

...........and Zakman is outta his flippin' mind if he thinks Holyfield should rank higher than Lewis all time. :deal I have Holyfield in my top 10 just ahead of Tyson.

Currently Lewis, Holyfield & Tyson are ahead of Klitschko on the ATG list.

Bowe had the shortest prime of any champion in recent history. It's mostly his fault the belts were split in the first place. He got his ass kicked twice by Golota, who went on to be destroyed by the very fighter he ducked - Lewis. His legacy sucks plain & simple.

I understand his prime was short, but he beat a legend in that time period twice. As far as Golota goes, I feel both fights were pretty close until Golota started low blowing him, ask anybody that pretty much takes the whole fight out of you.

I rank Bowe and Wlad at an almost same ranking, I give Bowe the slightly better ranking because he at least beat a great twice and only has 1 loss instead of 3.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion.

Where exactly do you rate Lewis all time? How about Holyfield & Tyson?

Bowe barely makes the top 30 or so for me. He had potential being a large, well skilled, powerful puncher with a good jab & inside or outside fighting ability. But, we saw how lame his jab was vs. another good jabber with skills & power & he got his ass kicked twice.

All 3 are so close IMO, I would have Holyfield ahead of Lewis, and Lewis ahead of Tyson. I just feel Lewis beat his best oppenents at the right time, he beat Holyfield a good 6 years past his prime, and Tyson at least 12 years past his prime, other than then 2 his resume is nothing IMO.

Holyfield had the best resume, Tyson had most talent, and Lewis had best record.

    I have them:

    1. Louis
    2. Ali
    3. Marciano
    4. Lewis
    5. Dempsey
    6. Forman
    7. Holmes
    8. Holyfield
    9. Tyson
    10. Johnson

It changes from time to time but Tyson never passes Holyfield & Holyfield never passes Lewis.

Not a bad list, the only reason I put Holyfield ahead of Lewis is because when Lewis beat Holyfield in 99 the second fight was very close and could of easily been called a draw, while I feel the first time they fought I gave it to Lewis by 3 points. So I came to the conclusion if both men fought in there prime, meaning a 91-92 version of Holyfield vs a 98-99 version of Lewis Holyfield would more in likely win, thats just my IMO.

He beat every man he ever faced, including revenge for two instances of carelessness.

He unified the belts and successfully defended hi titles.

His resume is resaonably good, easily in the top 10 of any heavywts.

He went out a champion, with his title and his wits.

I can't think of 10 better heavywts. Matter of fact, i can't think of four.

Well, it must be Christmas, because I'm agreeing with Ruskull here too. For one of the first times I can ever think of.

The circular logic of Bowe and Holy being "greats" frustrates me. It goes like this.

Holy is great, and bowe beat him, so bowe is a great.
Bowe is a great, and holy was undersized, and won one against him, so Holy is great.

    Bowe was 2-1 against Holy.

Bowe had an extremely short prime. He wasn't an ATG IMO. He was someone that could have been.

In an all time, H2H ranking he does far better than in an achievements one, purely on being modern, and being big and skilled.

In an achievements wise one, he's way down the order.
