Will Wladmir Klitschko Ever Have a Win over a Hall of Famer or ATG?

I'm really not sure what you're getting at. Was there more talent in the 90's than now? Which was the better era? I'm not trying to say that is the only factor, but it certainly plays a part.

Carefully looking at several past fighters, heavyweights in particular, many of them are considered "all time greats" despite fighting opponents who were called "the worst era ever" by the contemporary boxing media. Joe Louis' "Bum of the Month Club", Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson come to mind immediately. It's beyond dispute that Klitschko has competed against more global competition than any other long reigning heavyweight champion.



It always comes down to some sentimental fool looking at a current fighter with the utmost detail while ignoring the vast shortcomings the Old Timers really had. The boxing journalism of yesteryear often points that out.


The heavyweight division will NEVER improve in the future following their greatly flawed reasoning.

 

I'm getting at the fact that you're acting like there is a correlation between talent and the proliferation of ATGs and HOFs. I'm telling you there is very little, maybe even none. You are confusing talent (gifted at birth) with skill (learned).

 

So how exactly do YOU tell the difference? I can look at fighters and see who is more talented whether learned or born with. I'd bet if we went over every single fighter in the IBHOF many more would be considered to have natural talent and ability than those who are in and just learned fighters. Boxing takes will and dedication, but when you're amongst the very elite you have something else most other fighters do not have.....at least to the extent you've got it.

 

We're talking about heavyweights, Wlad in particular. Get with the program. :-(

Are we talking about Wlad now? If so than yes I would rate him higher if all those fighters were in a non ABC top ten during the time of those fights. I already rate him as an ATG though in spite of his terrible era.
