Shumenov seems like one of the few fighters who would fight him that would also be interesting. I have a hard time seeing any of the American light heavyweights getting it on with Erdei.
TBH I think that was the right thing to do, there were 3 of the 4 belts on the line and, with lineal titles, once that decision has been made you can't change your mind after the event just because it lead to Gonzales and Erdei.
Ive never seen the man fight, but from what Ive read in magazines and from what fans of the sport say, he is evidently a ducker and very overrated
No, the WBA and IBF belts were the only belts on the line that night. You may be getting confused with when Maske fought Michalczewski but, either way, I don't recognise the WBO. This has nothing to do with, retrospectively, changing my mind either. A strong argument can be made that lineage can't be established without a WBC belt on the line.
Ah, sorry you're right. The WBO belt was added later to make 3 out of 4 belts, I think thats enough to start a lineage and so did most people at the time. Its only because of the fact its ended up with Erdei that people are looking back and questioning it.
Dariusz beat Rocky who was WBC champ, but stripped, and given to Roy if I remember rightly. No matter what way you look at it, DM was "the" Champ at 175.
Dariusz fought Rocky two years after he was the, spurious, WBC titleholder. There are several ways of looking at this, stop looking for the childish cop out like most other morons on this site.
And we all know that Roy stepped up to be hugged to death rather than get starched a bit earlier at light heavyweight.
