Johnson went into the ring at Reno with a cut lip caused by sparring with Kid Cotton, it is an established fact.
I think if anyone needs censoring on this forum it is you for the pile of **** you continually spew out about Johnson, regurgitating the same old lies over and over.
You convert no one, you convince no one, you just make a complete **** of yourself over and over again ad ****ing nauseum.:patsch

Between the 7th and 8th rounds Jim Corbett said to Jack Jeffries," your brothers beat what are we going to do?" Doesn't sound close to me.

In the second round Jeffries clinched to try and avoid the right uppercuts that were ripping into him.
In the third Johnson said to Jeffries," come on now Mr Jeff ,let me see what you got.Do something man. This is for the championship," Johnson followed this with four uppercuts in a row.
Between the 4 &5 th rounds Johnson leaned down and told John L Sullivan, Jeffries couldn't hit hard enough to hurt him.
Rounds five, six ,seven, and eight were big Johnson rounds he opened a cut on Jeffries cheek, and closed his right eye,in the ninth Jeffries was crouching very low to avoid Johnson's jabs Johnson calmly said I'll straighten him up in minute and landed a big uppercut.
"At one point he encircled Jeffries with his arms and walked him towards Corbett's side of the ring
the he asked Corbett "where do you want me to put him Mr Corbett?" As he did so he heard WW Naughton dictating to his telegrapher,"Jeffries took a left hook to the jaw" "is that all he took,Mr Naughton ?"
Johnson asked and landed two more
Johnson had Jeffries staggering in the 10th with a left hook to the liver , he shouted out to Tommy Burns at ringside "I didn't show you that one in Sydney".
"At the end of the 14th round Jefferies had his nose broken his eyes were swollen nearly shut his shoulders and thighs were laced with blood"

It was a cake walk that you are trying to pretend was an even fight for 10 rounds, what a liar you are!

    McVey,

1 ) Jeffries cut his lip with a punch. The cuts Johnson produced later on were likely from left over scar tissue from the 2nd Fitzsimmons fight.

2 ) Corbett said he was licked in round 7 and 8? Okay, then why did Jeffries win round nine?

3 ) A draw in 10 rounds is not out of the question.

4 ) if you watch the film, it is Jeffries pushing Johnson backward until he was very tired in the later rounds

5 ) The only liar here is you! Johnson's finest hour is vs. Willard you said?? ROLMAO@@ I won't let you bait and switch the topic, so don't expect a reply in this thread on other fights.

PS: I think.. check that, I KNOW your too chicken S&hit to score the footage I posted here between Willard and Johnson.

Jeffries did not cut his lip he re-opened the cut that Johnson sustained in sparring. This is a matter of record.

Mentioned in the next days paper and in several books on Johnson ,including Unforgivable Blackness which the other day you were lauding as the best book written about Johnson that is also where the information and quotes came from where Johnson gave full credit to Willard for beating him fair and square.
Jeffries did NOT win the ninth round . If you watch the Jeffries fight with anything but bigoted, hate filled eyes you will see that Johnson allows Jeffries to waste energy pushing him back but at all times he has Jeffries arms safely pinioned so that he can't do any damage ,this is mentioned in reports of the fight and in all the books plus the next day reports sai,d and I quote," even Jeffries vaunted strength was inferior to the negroes" .

Below is one of Johnson's small challengers

    This content is protected

You are beat all ends up but you will keep on lying, it is your nature.
I have no interest debating anything with you, my only contact with you is to ridicule and expose you for the lying turd you are.

Sometimes you forget what your wrote. Sometimes you don't know what your watching! ( EX Langford vs Hauge ). Other times you agenda and bigotry force you to lie. Willard was Johnson's finest hour you say! HA

Do you seriously think I have any interest in your warped opinions?
I have all the round by round summaries of this fight from next day contemporary newspapers, the opinions of Rickard , the referee , Bob Fitzsimmons, Bob Edgren, Tommy Burns,Tad Dorgan ,Jack London and.John L Sullivan.

What would I want with a opinion of a twisted **** like you ?

Eddie Smith, famous referee writing for the Oakland Tribune: "Negro Proves Jeffries Master From Tap Of The Gong Until Final Blow In Great Battle."

Bill Lang, Australian HW: "After six or seven rounds I came to the conclusion that Jeffries was outclassed and that it would be a fluke if he were to win?"

W.W. Naughton: "Jeff had never a look in."

William Muldoon: "Jeffries seemed to have forgotten the game entirely."

John L. Sullivan: "Scarcely ever has there been a championship contest that was so one sided."

Hugh McIntosh: "Tommy (Burns) put up a much better fight than Jeffries did."

Charles Van Loan: "Johnson not only outclassed Jeffries but actually played with the big white man as he played with little Tommy Burns and Stanley Ketchel... The end, while it came with the suddenness of a thunderclap, was not a surprise. It had been in plain sight from the fifth round. There could have been but one ending and even the most rabid jeffries men could not deceive themselves into thinking that the white man had a chance after the fifth round."

George Harting (Timekeeper for the fight): "Jeffries never had a chance from the moment he entered the ring."

Sam Berger (Jeffries' manager): "After the third round I was convinced that Jeff was not himself."

W.J. Slattery (San Francisco Call): "Jeffries was powerless to defend himself. Perhaps he knew after the first few rounds that the bitter end must come soon..."

Tex Rickard (Referee of the fight): "After Johnson colored Jeff's eye with a left hook in the second round I knew it was the negros fight."

Bob Fitzsimmons, speaking of Jeffries being a shell of his former self and having left all of his fight in training: "The fight had not gone four rounds before I was convinced of this."

Sunny Jim Coffroth: "For the sake of brevity you could write Johnson 15 times and it would tell the story of each round."

Tommy Burns: "Hairy giant is completely at Johnsons mercy from beginning to end."

Ben Benjamin, San Francisco Chronicle: "There was a sameness about every round that robbed the contest of considerable interest."

Waldemar Young: "There was never any doubt as to how this tragedy was to end. From the sixth round on it went straight as an arrow..."

Jack London: "And as of old it was play for Johnson. From the opening to the closing round he never ceased his witty sallies, his exchanges of repartee with his opponents seconds and with the spectators... ...Little Tommy Burns down in far off Australia put up a faster, quicker, and livlier battle than did Jeff."

Stanley Ketchel: "There is little to write about todays contest. In fact it was absolutely no contest. Johnson could have knocked his man out in round after the first..."

Jack Densham: "Easier for black champion than his ordinary training"

Harry Smith: "Jeffries outclassed and defeated man from the first round."

Jay Davidson: "Although Johnson had been leading in every round and friends of jeffries had ceased rooting and had become sullenly quiet after the sixth..."

There are literally dozens and dozens of pages of this. Its hard to believe anyone would characterize this fight as being even close to a draw at any stage.

Thanks very much for the quotes, unfortunately whilst any objective person would be convinced by them, Mendoza will persist in repeating his lies.It is of no account rather like himself.

I watched some of the clip Mendacity provided, it is one of the worst prints I've seen of the Willard fight I've viewed, judging points from it would be farcical.
Then again, if you have the eyesight of a hawk, x ray vision and can clearly see Johnson has a blackeye against Ketchel then perhaps Mendacity can discern the quality of punches that are beyond us mere mortals.

Those quotes do not represent any of the filmed early rounds which were even or slightly in Jeffries favor due to activity. For example the British press felt Jeffries was slightly in the lead after four rounds. While the end was all Johnson, the beginning was not. It was very even.

Not debating if Jeffries was shot. He was.

Jack London greatly exaggerated Burns vs Johnson, and later admitted it to Burns. Had Jeffries got in a lucky hook later in the fight none of these guys comments would have stated that he was done for in round one.

How can anyone pretend that Jack Johnson wasnt utterly dominant to the point of literally toying with Jeffries, Flynn, Burns, and Ketchel? Its simply bizarre. Its not even a debateable point and yet Mendoza wants to try to debate it. Its nuts.
