Because he still beat Farmer even if the scorecards were pretty tight. Not every close fight needs a rematch. It wasn't a controversial decision or anything, and Zepeda would be smarter to either pick off another contender at 135 or get himself a title shot instead of rematching a guy he's beaten before.
Officially yes, but in actuality, it was a pretty comfy win. None of the following are bad scorers. It's pretty pointless.
Besides the knockdown Zepeda won most of the fight rather convincingly. Farmer fought well but just couldn’t keep up with Zepedas punch output although he would land a clean shot here and there. Personally I don’t think there was any reason to run it back. I’m more surprised that it was a split decision in the first place.
Not being a party pooper at all but was just hoping that Zepeda had moved on to fight someone else. I'm wondering if Zepeda intentionally chose Farmer in preparation for a possible showdown with Stevenson later this year. Farmer did expose some holes in Zepeda's game and it'll be interesting to see how much better Zepeda will do in the rematch. I'll be surprised if this turns into another harder than expected competitive fight for him.
I know that Stevenson already had a fight lined up but it would have been good to have seen Zepeda against Lomachenko or Muratalla. How do you see Zepeda's chances against Stevenson, assuming both of them breeze through their next fight?
Marinating fights these days are a p***take. Keyshawn actually taking on serious challenges in Berinchyk compared with Gervonta fighting Roach, Shakur on Schofeld, and now this. The fight itself isn't terrible but its a pointless fight. Where is Loma?
Already saw it, don't need to see it again when hel probably sit on the shelf another 6-10 months after this fight. The glacial pace these guys fight now is awful
