Williams 147lbs?

Having just read the interview on ESB homepage, Paul still maintains he can make 147lbs, even 145.5lbs if required! He also reckons he walks around between 160-165lbs? He was 168lbs on the night against Quintana for the first fight having made 147lbs the day before!

He may be able to make 147lbs still, but I highly doubt he walks around between 160-165lbs!

Martinez shook him so bad that he wants to go back to 147.

If he can dominate at 147 then i don't see a problem with him wanting to go back if he struggles at a higher weight. I am a fan of Williams and wan't to see him dominate in a division he feels he can do so in. He needs to decide where his real power lies and start picking fighters from that division.

We all know 147 is where the money is - he just wants in. On top of that - the two best fights for him outside of 147 - find themselves fighting each other.

If he can make that weight comfortably I think he will clean out the division. The only boxer who has a chance against him in my opinion would be Mayweather. I would still have Williams as favourite. I hope he drops down. The top dogs at WW will be shitting themselves.

Tell him to make 147 and let us see him against no less a contender than Collazo or Antwon Smith THEN we will believe him.

I like Williams, but for his sake I want to see him fight once at 147 and feel right. I would hate for him to derail his career by starving to a weight and looking like crap against an elite opponent.

The problem I have is that if he couldn't get the biggest fights at 147 before, why's he going back there now? 154's a wide open division where Paul also has the name power to get the meaningful fights there, and regardless of the moniker his team's used to market him, the top competition at 154 is more than willing to face him.

What's happening is he's playing the same card on those guys that bigger name fighters at 147 use on him- that the risk just doesn't fit the paycheck.

If the man says he can make 147 why is so hard for you posters to believe that!!??

When you are in fight shape or if you are at your walk around weight maybe 15-20lbs difference!!!

This is almost as bad as the thread that said Clottey was picking on smaller opponents. If Paul can make 147 then he's a welterweight. It doesn't matter what weight he walks around at.

He's probably going back down because the only meaningful fights above 147 he can get are Pavlik and Martinez, and they're busy.

    :think

NAh, Mayweather would counter him all night long. (Think Phillip N'dou. Not saying N'dou was as good as Williams but similiar styles: Height, Long reach and lots of punches)

The long reach and volume of punches from williams will cause Floyd to be very cautios early, but after 3 or 4 rounds it is over. Paul isn't technically sound to beat Floyd, IMO. (Not saying he tko's Paul but 8 to 4 rounds UD)

*This is coming from a Paul fan*

If he can make 147 he should take this next fight with Cintron or whoever he fights at 147. I'm sure Cintron can still make 147 too.
