So close, but, it just wasn't enough. He was keeping his right hand too far away from his face to protect from the straight left hand. That should've been paramount in his training. He started doing really well when he started coming forward with his gloves up. Great fight though and he should be proud of himself.
He did a damn good job, I'm amazed he lasted 4 rounds. When he got dropped, he just manned up and came in like a predator and willed his way through Stevenson's bombs to land some of his own. This match redeemed him to a certain extent for the Campillo match.
Yeah, he just didn't have quite enough in the tank and was taking too many of Stevenson's big shots. But, the courage and tenacity was impressive. A really great four round fight. Stevenson even looked better than he has in recent fights and that's because he was really pushed in this fight and if he had taken his foot off the gas some, he probably would've gotten KO'd. It's the best LHW fight I've seen in some time.
Fighting Stevenson in Canada is like fighting Mayweather in Vegas. You aint gonna win. Ref wasn't even going to call that blatant low blow. Top Dog can hold his head up high he gave it his all. Lets see Stevenson- Kovalev/Ward but not in Canada or Oakland LOL
Not in the sense that he was on Queer Street, but I think what he means is that had Williams been able to follow up on the few times he did have Stevenson rocked and scored a few more flush bombs - and/or sustained those kinds of moments without leaving himself open to counters like he described - he could've made a serious dent in his shields and possibly even put him down/out.
I don't think he could see well at all in the Campillo fight. Similar to how Israel Vasquez couldn't breath in the first fight with Marquez.
When you say almost, I don't know what you mean. I'm not trying to be funny but Williams landed some good shots, but I never saw Stevenson hurt or even rocked.
Trust me, Stevenson was feeling it. Why do you think he came out of his shell and fought like that? He HAD to. That was a legit war in there.
