Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams need to finally make the fight happen. With the way both careers have turned, they need each other now more than they did before. Before they were both on top big names who could afford a different route, now after both being embarresed by Sergio need to make a statement and fast.
The fight would still be a draw because both are undoubtably big punchers, they have bad blood, and both need to get the train back on the tracks.
I think it'd be the best option, financially, and resumewise for both. One will put himself back in the spotlight, the other will have serious work to do.
    Thoughts?:think

I doubt Williams is going to stay at 160. I think his next couple of fights will be at 154 before he tries to test the waters at 147 again.

I think his next big fight could be against Angulo, which would be good for both fighters and the fans.

If Pavlik and he both stay at 160, it makes a lot of sense and should definitely happen. I think we've missed the boat on this one though.

    This.

After getting knocked out at 160 by a small MW, he's not going to fight a bigger [albeit worse] one at the weight in my opinion. He would be foolish to do so at this point.

i disagree. both desperately need to find their place in the sport and get rolling...but i don't think this fight should happen.

here's the thing. i'm not confident kelly has his **** together and can get to 160 and be peak right now. if he can't get to 160 and be healthy, he'll be a mummy in there and will lose a points decision. if kelly can get to 160 and be like he was when he won the title...he'll kill williams. he would probably end williams career and that's not hyperbole. williams is not a mw and should not be campaigning at mw.

williams would take a sustained beating all night and would eventually be left in a corner. that's in no way a knock on paul. its just stating the obvious that in no way could paul take that right hand all night and trade w/ kelly the way he likes to do.

paul needs to move back down. kelly needs to figure out what the hell he wants to do and do it.

I agree completely. This is the perfect fight to get the winner back on track. It's interesting to see how the worm has turned for both of them since their aborted attempts to make this fight a reality last year.

Pavlik would KTFO Paul! He picked Martinez over Paul, but Martinez was a worse style match-up for him!

You must have a deathwish for Williams if you think this is a good fight for him at 160. Anyway I've seen posts on here saying Kelly can't make 160 effectively any more hence his intended move up before his injury.

i shitted on williams for hanging around 147
the kid needs to stay away 154
147 is his home he dont have the chin

before he scared the hell outta cintron he was rocked n stopped in his tracks and now this

but damn he already looked starved at 154
he needs to move down and fight pac or floyd before somebody kills him especially with the counter punchers dream style

haha no death wish, just think its a good option for both to make a statement. they both talked so much junk on each other i think they should get in there now to prove something.

    No way.

Pavlik does not really want this fight because if he beats PW then so what. He beat a guy who just got KOed by Martinez in 2. IT will be very hard for him to look impressive even though he more than likely will KO him.

FOr PW this is the worst fight he can take. He beats PAvlik. SO what? many people have already written him off. If he loses which is the likely scenario then he can basically kiss his career good bye. I mean in todays boxing world the public doesnt wanna see you unless you are near perfect. Its sad but thats the way it is.

Williams was never a middleweight. All that jumping around ruined him. He needs to get to 154 and stay there. It's a decent division with a lot of good young fighters.

Paul Williams needs to stick to one weight division. Preferibly 154.
