if cotto isn't going to fight floyd then he should fight williams, this is a more meaningful fight, oscar needs to clean out his division and fight the guys there!!!

The most logical matchups in terms of what's best in a pure boxing sense, isn't always the best business sense. Boxing is a business too.

Cotto-De La Hoya will probably lead to Mayweather-Cotto as long as Miguel wins, so I'm all for it, provided Cotto wins.

If DLH wins, I'll be mad. I want Mayweather-Cotto, not Mayweather-De La Hoya 2.

You may feel this way but Cotto certainly does not as it will land him his biggest payday and a chance to draw a larger audience.

Cotto will not fight Williams before PBF or DLH. That would be business suicide. If he lost to Williams- which I think would happen- all future big-$ fights would be off. At least if he loses to DLH or PBF he'll make a fortune for it.

I agree! I think Cotto should fight williams even though I think Cotto would loose. it would still be a very exciting fight. Not that a Cotto vs DLH fight wouldn't be exciting...Williams would just make for a more exciting fight. Plus Cotto would be able to regain anther title from one of the other title holders...lets just hope for Cotto's sake Paul doesn't unify!

Cotto and Williams will have a hard time agreeing on a purse split because both are equally champions but Cotto is the much bigger draw.

Unless Williams agrees to the short end of the stick this fight will not happen.

Well...Williams and Marg both started the fight at the same time...Its not Williams fault that Marg wasn't doing much at the first half of the fight.

And you act as if Margarito isn't a major player at 147!:rofl Margarito is a very dangerous and tough foe for anyone. He was champion for a long time before Williams took his crown.
Cotto is a beast but Williams is a freak of nature with all the tools to beat Cotto convingingly. And he will if this fight happens.

I personally think we as fans are losing the point a bit, and if im wrong, im not allergic to corrections so plzz do say, but i just think that this is about Mayweather, not Cotto. PBF is the Welterweight champion, and Miguel Cotto is the number one contender. I think that if Floyd were to fight he should fight Cotto, u see, #1 vs #2, not #3 vs #2, that should ony happen if Mayweather (#1) doesnt fight at all. So to the theme of the thread, Williams/ Cotto a must?? i think it should be a Mayweather/Cotto a must, if not, than it would be williams/cotto a must.

The fight should happen in the distant furture, i don't see Bob Arum thinking about that now because it is a big risk for everyone at WW, i mean Williams is a fast southpaw who has a long reach maybe even more than the Klitschko brothers and at 6'-1" fighting in welterweight division is just too much for welters between 5'-6" and 5'-11", the only weakness and disadvantage he will have if he ever fights Cotto will be his torso, if Cotto penetrates Pwilliams defense with big left hooks to the body he could win. When Margarito fought Williams he was Headhunting a lot when he should have aimed more to the body.

I would rather see Cotto-DLH to be honest.
