The day after Margarito lost a decision to Williams, there were countless threads bashing Margarito. Did Margarito get destroyed? No. Did he lose convincingly? Yes. Was it a difficult fight to predict considering the circumstances? Yes. First of all, Margarito didn't do as poorly as some people persist that he did. He blocked a great deal of William's shots and laid some hard shots that seemed to affect Williams. He also came out blazing in the 11th round, but Williams was just too strong and too conditioned. However, Margarito could have taken more risks to get inside of William's punches, but how could he have known that Williams had that kind of conditioning? Let's face it. Williams is a FREAK. The man throws over 100 punches a round and moves all over the ring. He never seems to tire and looked like a brand new man in the 12th round. He also appears to have a good if not great chin and a hell of a lot of heart. He also has great movement. It's possible that Williams might actually be the man to beat at 147. Honestly, right now, only Cintron looks like he may be capable of beating Williams. And I'm basing this on Cintron's boxing ability, range, and power, ESPECIALLY HIS POWER. Cotto could win, but it's likely that Williams will be able to hold Cotto off with his long arms and huge workrate. Cotto won't even be able to get to Williams to hurt him and when he does, Williams will tie him up. Even Floyd would have a lot of trouble with Williams. Floyd won't be able to KO Williams, and while not every punch Williams throws will land, enough of them will for him to win a decision. This is especially true considering his long reach and the fact that Floyd will have to be more aggressive, thereby leaving him more open, in order to get to Williams to win the fight. When a guy throws a 100 punches a round as fast as Williams does with his range and accuracy, punches are going to land. Is Williams ready for Floyd right now? It's debateable, but personally I would give him a fight or two before I throw him in the ring with Floyd. The fact is though, is that Margarito is a tough fight for anybody in the division. Williams is just an athletic freak and I seriously doubt that anyone knew he would have that kind of ability. ****, Lampley was right when he called him a Freakaleak. Give him props and stop dissing Margo. Margo didn't really lose any credibility for his performance in that fight. What he did lose though was fights. Who the hell wants to fight Margarito now that he doesn't have a belt? He may very well be finished, but he's no worse of a fighter. So ya'll chill, ya gay ass bitches..
I dont think WIlliams is that fast. Margarito made him look fast. Hell Margarito will make anyone have Sugar Ray type of speed. But I doubt Williams will look like that against Cotto, Mayweather or Mosley.
You think Cotto is faster than Williams? Mayweather for sure, but Cotto? I think Williams could potentially make Cotto look bad. Cotto is really going to have stretch himself out to land hooks to Williams body, and Williams is fast enough with his foot movement and rangy with his length, that I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of missed shots from Cotto.
Williams did what he was suppose to do against an overrated limited fighter win. I'm not completly sold on Williams just yet he'll have to do more than beat a limited fighter like Margo.
Nobody said Margarito wasn't limited, but the fact is that Margarito would give anyone a tough fight. Concerning Williams though, styles make fights. Floyd wants no part of him. He probably has the best style in the welterweight division to beat Floyd. Give him a fight or two. Floyd won't ever fight him though. I'd rather see Floyd fight Cotto anyway.
:good agreed here. Margarito is jus so slow that WIlliams looked xtra fast. Williams I think will have a lot of trouble with fighters who arent stationary. For one, Williams was there all night to hit, but MArgarito wasnt able to capitalize. Against more slick, and skillful boxers, those mistakes he makes will be exploited. I think Cotto, SHane, and Floyd could beat him.
Sorry to say, Williams is alllllllllll wrong for Cotto. He has very good speed. Cotto isnt that fast at all. He isnt going to beat Paul to the punch from the outside. Its just not going to happen. He has a very high output and very long reach. Cotto does his best work inside and doesnt really have good defense, how much punishment do you suppose he is going to have to endure to get in there? He has good to very good power. Cotto has a shaky chin. Cotto has been hurt by fighters with less power than Williams....tho his recovery time is amazing....and since its pretty much a given that he is going to take alot of HARD shots while trying to get inside....how could you not think this is going to be a KO victory for Williams? I mean, please elaborate on how Cotto somehow matches up well with this guy? I just dont get it??? :huh
No one has to chill. No one is Gay ass bitches. You dished it out before, now take it. It's as simple as that. Many of you got overzealous and the posts that followed bashing Margarito after his loss are the same thing that happen to ANY poster who pushes a guy as hard as some of the posters here did.
I don't agree at all. I think Williams put a boxing lesson on Margarito. He threw a combination then hooked off or tied him up. How does that equate to being stationary? Williams looked GOOD.
I never said Williams looked bad. he fought good. Im just sayin he makes mistakes that could cost him against more skilled boxers
You don't even know anything about Berto except what you heard from some other dick sucker on ESB. Why the **** should I trust you? I would rather trust the bum on the street I pay to tell me where the cops are located than trust some dude on ESB that judges fighters by their popularity and status quo. And Berto got hit by a perfect punch and recovered nicely. Even if it does turn out to be true about his chin, you can't question his heart and determination. Everybody is talking ****, but he was centerstage on the biggest stage of his life, and everyone was looking for a KO. If he didn't get one the haters would show up. And wouldn't you know it, here they are.
