 By that logic Sven Ottke hits harder than Mikkel Kessler and Danny Green, since they couldn't even drop Anthony Mundine, let alone KO him. Ottke KO'd Mundine cold with one punch.

It's Boxing, man. **** happens. Anyone can be KO'd with a well place, well timed shot. Williams still isn't a puncher.

You make it sound like Williams hit him with as they were both coming together. Williams was actually moving backwards and just threw the punch as Quintana fell in.

But besides that point, Williams is a big dude. If he sits down on his punches he can hurt you. No denying it. All Williams did in the first Q fight was fall in and throw those little pitty pat punches. The rematch was a whole different story.

Margarito beat the crap out of Williams. Williams refused to give a rematch, but when Williams lost to Quintana, he expected an immediate rematch.

I don't think I'm exaggerating that much. I probably shouldn't have said "by far", but Williams made it clear that he's never felt power like Matthyse's in his career and he was impacted by it.

So are you saying Ottke is a harder puncher than Kessler and Green? And that Williams is a harder puncher than Cotto or Julio? :rofl

Williams caught Quintana with a well placed left hand in between shots. Quintana never was able to recover because Paul landed flurries of punches. He wasn't moving backwards. He stopped and planted his feet. It was a good shot, no doubt. But it was more so the timing and placement of the shot that did the damage than the power behind it. If Williams had true power, with the number of power shots he was landing on Matthysse and Pakau , I highly doubt they would have been able to absorb so many.

I believe he saying the truth . . . except the "just like me part". :D

It's gonna be more acceptable and believable if Williams simply just said . . . he has a good chin that's why he survived . . . because watching that fight over and over again . . . I can see his head almost getting decapitated when Margarito started connecting in the later part of the fight.

Williams throws a hundred powerless punches per round. :yep

Williams rarely ever throws homerun punches though. I mean look at his fights. He just doesn't do it.

Contrast it with Cotto. Cotto doesn't throw near as many punches but when he does throw he throws from the hip. It's a very hard punch that he puts everything into.

Not to say Williams can't do the same. If he does you better not be standing in the way of it!

Agree to disagree. I saw Williams hitting Pakau and Matthysse with everything but the kitchen sink, gunning for a KO, and couldn't put them away without the referee's intervention.

What the hell are you talking about? Williams never refused a rematch. In fact, Margo said he wouldn't fight him again unless Arum was promoting the fight. And Williams should've expected an immediate rematch against Quintana, he had a rematch clause in the contract.

I kinda agree on the part about him being hurt in the second half. It wasn't even mentioned but maybe that's because it wasn't asked.

The thing that nobody is talking about here is how both guys throw power shots. Margarito has solid power even when he isn't trying to knock someone out. Just heavy handed. Cotto though has to put his body into his shots, and he doesn't throw many.

It seems to me like Cotto is more likely to tire as it gets midway because of the energy he is gonna use up moving more, punching harder and giving more head movement. Conversely Margarito will be doing exactly what got him there, which is to just up the ante as the rounds go by.

The more I look at this the more I think those middle rounds are going to be crucial for Margarito. If Cotto is seriously pressed and is forced to work harder we could see him tire about the 6th or 7th round.

I'm looking at that angle too . . . and you could be right. Good point.
