Williams: "I Would Have Done To Pavlik What Bernard Did, Only Faster And Slicker"

He's started to believe his own hype. Big mistake, Pavlik made it and look what happened.
There's no way Williams would perform as good as Bernard did vs Pavlik. He may have a shot at winning (I'd still favour Pavlik) but that's it.
To claim he is slicker than Hopkins... that's a candidate for stupidest quote of the year. But Jack Loew's comments before the fight with Hopkins beats even that.

 

Unless Paul Williams says he could beat SRR, I'd say the dumbest quote of the year is a two man race between Jack Loew and Enzo Calzaghe. They're pretty much knocking out the competition one word at a time.

Only Oscar's "Manny Pacquaio was picking on me" comment comes close.

 

Williams is just as flawed as Pavlik.

Williams is now the most overrated fighter in boxing. He could NEVER duplicate ANYTHING Hopkins does.

Williams gets hit too much and Pavlik would probably stop him late.

 

I wouldn't say that Paul would lose to Kelly. I think he could go the distance, depending on his defense, but the decision would be close.

I think Paul is just trying to get his name out there now, since he is being ignored in his primary division. I have no hate for anyone guy trying to get money legally.

 

Agreed...and not to mention he's talking about a legend in the game right now. There should be a bit more respect from Pauls end. Not that it was THAT disrespectful, but again, he's a young champion almost downplaying the preformance as "not up to his standard". Seems his EGO is growing a bit. Which isn't neccssarily a bad thing in this game.

 

IMO I actually LIKE PAV in a match with Paul. For one reason! PAV is natrually bigger and stronger. I like Pauls stamina and work rate....I also like his craft. He's very soild technically, but PAV proves he has a hell of a chin and proved that he doesn't give up...even when defeat is inevitabel. That is a champions heart right there. I think Pav would be able to take Pauls best and end up countering Paul due to his relentless pressure.

Pauls offense can act as his defense with smaller guys....but with guys his own size and with POWER that just leaves his ass wide open for counters....My only question is how is Pauls chin and is he durable? If he is durable and he does have a very strong chin he could get a UD based purley on his work rate, but I doubt he'd be dominating like Nard was in there with PAV.
