Williams is in a bidding war with Pavlik

Pavlik only fights c level fighters so im sure he is looking for another contender reject to put on ppv . Pavlik is not a factor at all nobody even cares that he holds a belt he is just not that importnant sorry

They made an offer to Martinez. They've bent over backwards in negotiations with PWill to make it happen. PWill demanding 50-50 is ridiculous. Pavlik draws 4 times as many people. Top Rank would be running the promotion and taking all the financial risk. PWill is taking no risk, can't draw flies for crap and wants 50%. There is more than one way to turn down a fight. And that's one right there.

And its only been recently that Pavlik's opponent level has dropped. Taylor twice, Hopkins, Miranda at his peak were all crap opponents I guess. And part of that is mandatories and part injuries.

But Pav hasn't been fighting. Why shouldn't it be 50/50? Also Paul Williams is becoming a draw in his own right. His fight with Martinez was brilliant and one of the best fights of the year. Paul Williams does not need Kelly Pavlik, he can fight Martinez again or anybody else, even Margarito.

SO WHAT IS IT CALLED WHEN A FIGHTER DUCKS OUT OF 2 DATES? THAN TAKES A FIGHT 2 WEEKS LATER AGAINST A LESSER OPPONENT??

Paul deserves a 50/50 on this one as kp backed out of 2 dates and it costed paul alot of money

 

If Pavlik is so much of a bigger draw than Williams, he should have no problem outbidding him. I don't see how this is a problem for Pavlik. Martinez is a perfectly credible fight, and I doubt Williams could match. If Pavlik takes Martinez, then Williams is left out in the cold.

 

Williams-Martinez drew less than 3,000 people.
Pavlik-Taylor 1 drew over 10,000 in the same venue.
Williams-Wright drew less then 2000 in Vegas.
Pavlik-Taylor 2 drew over 9,000 in Vegas.

Do you think it would be fair if you were a salesman and sold 3 or 4 times more than someone else you work with that he should make as much as you?
How exciting your fights are are irrelevant. And Pavlik's fights are pretty darn exciting too.
And Pavlik has options too. Martinez, Sturm, move up and face Bute.

The main thing that Williams has going for him is Al Haymon who has HBO in his pocket so he may be getting PWill more from HBO then Arum is getting for a Pavlik fight.

But, I do agree that PWill should be compensated due to Pavlik's pullouts. Whether it was intentional or not, Pavlik did screw over PWill with his pullouts.
