I think Williams and Steward would be a much better matchup than Taylor/Steward was. Williams isn't as hard headed and has more physical dimensions except for power than Taylor. He already has the inside fighting ability, but Steward would improve is outside fighting ability. Steward hasn't had much success with the fighter's now(sans Klitchsko)but I think Williams is the one who I think will listen enough and improve under Steward. I'm not saying he would make him into a another Tommy Hearns, but he would make him a better fighter.

I agree, I think he does need a new trainer-he continues to makes some of the same fundemental mistakes as he did against Carlos. I think some of these fighters need to give up that loyality **** with the trainers they had as they came up. He could also improve under Nazim.

The glaring mistakes I saw Paul make were:

    1. Failure to attack the body at all.
    2. Failure to cut off the ring.
    3. Leaving himself open for the counter right.
    4. Fighting smaller than his height and reach suggest he should
    5. Not living and dying by his jab.

Manny is the guy who correct all of this and makes good fighters great. I think this would be a marriage made in heaven.

I don't think so. Paul was in this fight because of his volume and awkwardness. He tries to fight like Hearns and he would have lost (I did think he lost anyway). Steward tries to make everyone Hearns. Nah but maybe you are right. With better defense he could succeed.

Manny is not good for anyone at this point. He trains more like a fan than a trainer. When he has a fighter that's winning every second of every round behind solid fundamentals he gets mad at him for not going for broke and trying to score the KO. As a fan it's o.k to want that excitment. As a trainer, winning comes first.

Maybe he could help him to fight tall when he needs to and to sit on his shots more. When he does sit on his punches he generates good power.

Have to agree... if there's one type of fighter Manny knows how to teach, it's tall fighters. He'd spruce Paul's defense up and get him to fight tall behind that jab.

I like the work Eddie Mustafa Muhammad has done with Chad Dawson. Seems to have settled him down and Dawson doesn't get hit with nearly the level of punches he used to.

I think he could do the same for Paul Williams.

Emmanuel Stward might be the best trainer for tall fighters there is and Paul Williams is a tall fighter so it might just work.

I thought Dawson fought better when he was working with Mayweather Sr. to tell you the truth. His performance against Adamek was his best to date.

No doubt he was impressive against Adamek. I kinda like the Tarver I performance better because it was so controlled.

I like the way Muhammad guided Dawson through the the first Johnson fight. Good real time advice and kept Dawson focused down the stretch.

And I just think Dawson makes way better use of his speed now under Muhammad, working up and down and taking much more control of his bouts.
