Not even close to comparable situations. Roy Jones added 20 pounds of muscle to move to heavyweight. Williams just didn't cut the extra weight :deal I really can't believe you compared these two. :yikes
Let me ask you something. Let's say Williams didn't fight yesterday but you heard he was walking around at 160, two months away from his fight. Would you be worried about him losing the weight? The answer is no. That's perfectly normal for a welter to be 13 lbs. away from weight 2 months away from the fight.
We don't even know if he entered the ring any heavier than he normally does. I suspect he just trained as usual, and didn't drain off the last 10 pounds. His ring weight was probably only 5 pounds off where it was against Margo.
**** you then. You make a stupid ****ing thread, but it's ok because I made one too? My ridiculous thread doesn't legitamize yours, they are both stupid :good
He did it many times before, I never knew that to be honest, I've only seen Williams fight Margarito, Kolle, Mitchell and Pakau. Thanks to one poster here he pointed out that Williams fought many times at Middleweight before and had a few fights at Jr. Middle too, it never affected him as he went on to fight Margarito don't know if it will now.
I think Williams was just trying to make a statement that he's willing to fight anyone anywhere, and this brings pressure to the top welterweights that they have to fight him or they will be true duckers. Hopefully, this tactic works and he gets the fights. After the dust settles @ WW then he'll move up fulltime. If he can't get the WW fights then everyone is screwed, a great division made a joke.
If Williams does bounce around weight classes for a while I don't see it as nearly as much of a problem as with Roy Jones. Most improtantly, Jones was pretty old 33-34. The points previously mentioned about Roy moving beyond his best weight vs. Williams moving up to his best weight is also significant
I do not understand any logic in Williams moving up to 160 to fight a club fighter only to move back down, Why would he do that? Seriously?
Age needs to be taken into account. RJ was weight jumping in his mid 30s. Williams is still young enough that his body could take that type of strain.
Now he has proven that he can compete at that weight. Now everyone from 147 - 160 has to take notice. It broadens his marketability to a bigger pool of potential opponents. Prior to this showcase some middleweights may not want to fight him because even if they beat him, they just beat a WW that has never fought at middle before. Well now he has a 1st round KO at 160lbs to add to his already impressive WW resume. Nobody at WW wants the guy, he has to start looking elsewhere :deal
It was a chance to get more exposure. It was on Vs. so it's not like they have money to get a big name. So goes up, tests himself against a big fighter and gets some exposure along the way. He's fighting again in Nov, so I don't see the problem.
