excellent...my man the punisher needs a fight like this after the atrocity that was his encounter with cintron..that fight they had back in december was classic..the only thing i hope is that paul didn't fade a little from that fight..i say that because prior to cintron disgracing himself and boxing paul was getting tagged plus his handspeed seemed to have slowed and wasn't throwing as many punches as he usually did...i don't know if that was just a new plan for the fight or was he slightly diminished..either ill be watching
I wonder will martinez get shafted by the officials again, the 119 - 110 card on the last fight was one of the worst ever, amazing bias
Does it really matter that Williams had to change sparring partners for Martinez?? Can any mortal actually imitate Sergio Martinez?? The answers to these questions friends is NO Williams fights the way he does every goddamn fight. He's not a "gameplan" type of fighter that has a plan A or plan B. He makes subtle adjustments in the ring based on how his opponent is fighting. Paul Williams is two things: Pressure and Volume The whole "gameplan" idea is bull**** anyway. Sergio wins by an even wider margin in the rematch.
I read about this yesterday, and mentioned it on another thread. This is really good news. Martinez, Williams, Pavlik staying at 160, Pirog bursting on the scene, Sturm back in action. Lemieux, Macklin, Lee, McEwan all coming up. 160 is heating up.
Pavlik is staying at 160? How come he didn't take the rematch with Martinez? EDIT: You forgot Golovkin and Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam
he would have gotten schooled hard, again. pavlik will never be a fighter complete enough to overcome the style disadvantage he has versus someone like sergio anyway.
Cheers to two worthy fighters! This time, however, the speedy Spaniard slaps out a well earned decision. :bbb
Boo, I am a big Kelly fan, but I simply don't see him beating Martinez. In fact, I think I rematch would be more of the same.
Pavlik is currently walking around 2 or 3 pounds lighter than he was on fight night against Martinez. He stopped lifting weights and picked up his cardio routines, and a lot of the bulk come off over about a 3 month period. Team Pavlik now beleives that with a sports nutritionist, and a world class conditioning coach, KP can stay at 160. That's not carved in stone, but there is a distinct lack of options at 168-175. They want a fight in November/December. The S6 makes a lot of guys unavailable. Bute has a mandatory in October. Dawson/Pascal has a two-way rematch clause, and Cloud/Johnson probably makes those two unavailable. In addition, as we all know, 160 is heating up.
