This is the fight that both guys need. First fight was very good and has some controversy attached to it. I thought Williams deserved the win but a lot of people disagree and atleast one of the cards was horrible. HBO hasn't had a great year this year and this would go a long way in fixing that.

Ah right, sounds like he gave up the option for the rematch to give himself time to readjust his body weight and give himself a better chance in the rematch. He was always a big middleweight though, i know there's not much for him up higher right now, but he's going to have to be really disciplined to keep himself in 160.

When Arum suggested the Pavlik/Chavez junior fight, I think Team Pavlik felt like they could get a good trial run at 160. They could see if KP could still be effective at the weight without taking much risk; a tune-up with a 7 figure pay day attached. Now that looks dead, so absolutely nothing is certain.

If I had my way, we'd push Williams/Martinez back to November, and put Pavlik/Pirog on the undercard.

Fading or not, martinez won the 1st fight. When they dropped each other williams, was hurt. Martinez was off balance & punched/pushed in the back of the head & was not hurt at all. He still landed the better punches and won more rounds to me.

Good Finally the Williams hype will die out again.

Here is a few points to which I will lean towards Martinez.

-Martinez was in training to fight a C level fighter before he got told he would fight Williams. So no its not the same as being in a full training camp. Martinez has shown he can make adjustments even as the fight goes on. Which is exactly what he did throughout the PW fight. That was short notice. This one i expect he will have a plan for the full 12 rounds and not have to improv from the first round on.

-Williams unlike Martinez can not make adjustments or fight any other way. All he can do is come forward and throw a bunch of punches with minimal defense. The one time i saw him try to change his style was with Cintron and he looked terrible. I had Cintron winning that fight but his being a ***** deserved the loss. I hope he comes and tries to box with Martinez. It would be even more embarrasing.

-The fight will take place at 160 since thats where it makes sense. PW doesnt seem to haev the same power he showed at 147 or even at 154. Not to mention this time around Martinez will be even better suited for the weight as his last fight was also there.

-Expect Martinez to work on his stamina and not have those late round issues he had in the first fight which eventually made the fight closer.

-Expect a highway robbery if Martinez does not win 10 out of 12 rounds. HBO really doesnt want another one of their investments to lose since so many of them have in the past year.

My opinion is Martinez outboxes PW about 8-4 rounds and gets a SD loss. Specially on PW side of the US.

168 has plenty of options. Super 6 is ending soon and 2 top fighters will drop out of that in 2 months time. Andrade, Bute, Bika, and that German with the title.
175 has Cloud, Dawson, Pascal, Johnson.

Pavlik just knows his strength is bullying people and he aint gonna bully the bigger guys.

Pirog is much too slick for Pavlik. He is also a strong MW so it would be an interesting fight but wrong style for Pavlik. His team would never do it.

Which one of the fighters you mentioned will be available for a November/December fight? Perhaps you should have read my post, or even better, read the news. None of the guys you mentioned will be available in November/December.
