    Williams-Quintana at Pechanga!
The Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, will be the site for the February 9 championship battle between WBO welterweight titleholder Paul "The Punisher" Williams (33-0, 24 KOs) and #10-ranked WBO contender Carlos "El Indio" Quintana (24-1, 19 KOs). The matchup of hard-hitting southpaw knockout artists will be presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions, in association with Pechanga Resort & Casino, and will be televised worldwide on HBO. "It's great having Pechanga host an event of this magnitude, where we promoted so many other major boxing events during their growth as one of the preeminent casinos in the world," promoter Dan Goossen exclaimed. "Los Angeles just witnessed Paul, the 'most feared fighter in the world' today with a sellout crowd of over 8,000 fans and now he brings his entertaining and all action knockout power to the great fans of Pechanga." The full card and preliminary bouts, along with ticket information and prices will be announced shortly.

I expect Williams to have one of the shortest reigns as a WW title holder. :yep

Are you kidding? Quintana poses little threat to Williams. This is a tune-up if there ever was one..

A fast skilled boxer-puncher will trouble Williams. Just because he got blasted by Cotto doesnt mean that Williams will do the same. They fight nothing alike.

Too long, too rangy, too many punches from all angles = almost impossible for Quintana to win a decision. He also lacks the power to KO Paul. Quintana has no shot! He will be overwhelmed by Paul's workrate. Paul doesn't pack the same punch as Cotto but Quintana will wither away in the late rounds after Paul throws over 100 punches each and every round..

Sounds like you want to make an avatar bet though.. don't let your Puerto Rican pride blind you. Williams will wax that ass..

Paul Williams is a VERY good fighter, and I think this will be a great opportunity to show case his skill. Quintana is certainly no mug. I think against Cintron it may have been a pick em fight, however I believe Williams will be all wrong for him. To beat Williams as a boxer you will have to be superb defensively. It will be very very interesting to see what sort of tactics Quintana chooses to adopt. Pressure will obviously be Williams biggest problem, and I don't see Quintana being able to provide it effectively.

Quintana is one of those fighters that have a little bit of everything, not too many flaws in his game, I must admit.. he's GOOD at everything, but GREAT at nothing. Jack of all trades.. master of none.

I'd like to say he has a shot in this fight... but I just don't see it. Quintana's just too average. Paul needs to win this to move on to bigger and better things... and he will. Anything other than a decisive victory (hopefully a stoppage) would be a disappointment

Williams UD is my pick, but Quintana will be a good test. He's underrated at welterweight. Underrated speed, slickness, and skills. I'd pick him over a number of welterweight contenders. But Williams' height and workrate will probably be too much. Quintana will have a tough time outboxing him from the outside and he isn't suited as a pressure fighter.

I've read they have sparred with each other in the past.

As someone who wants to see the Cotto/Williams, Cintron/Williams, PBF/Williams fights in the future, I definitely don't want to see Quintana win.. and you shouldn't either!

Which people are you referring to? I've never heard anyone say Williams is better than the top guys in the division. He's only fought Margarito. Give him time to prove himself..

He may not be the best WW, but he's definitely the most physically-imposing WW. Standing next to PBF or Cotto, they'd look like midgets. Not saying he can beat PBF or Cotto yet.. I'm just saying.. if you put him in with ANY welterweight, Paul's going to have the physical advantage.

A tall, quick, mobile, southpaw boxer-puncher with an 82-inch reach that can fight on the inside or out, throws punches from all angles, and throws over 100 punches a round..... would be a problem for anybody at this weight..

I just want the best man to win. I am a fan of neither. And yes alot of people act like he is the top WW with no reason behind it other than he beat Margarito. Thats not enough for me.

    Quintana by KO.
    Williams doesnt impress.
Most of his fights have been against fighters with losing records.
    Lots of soft touches.
All of a sudden he beat Margo and he is the next best thing to Cheerios.
Margarito started slow and would have won if he had a few more rounds.
Other than Margo who had an off nite --- who has Williams fought.
    Quintana is tough.
He can also box and punch and is coming to win.
Cant break an egg Williams will not intimidate Quintana.

Skilled and shifty..hard to hit...again becuase Cotto disposed of him with a body shot doesn;t mean he is soft, remember he came back to beat the young Julio with boxing lesson!!!
