According to Williams he can easily make 154. The reason for the fight being at 160 is likely a combination of Martinez being able to keep his belts regardless of the outcome, and for Williams to fight at that weight in anticipation of further fights in the near future (Pavlik).

Will only lead to him not getting full credit.Martinez is not a MW and this doesn't consist of cleaning up 154.

Won't get credit from us here on ESB is all.

Williams isn't a true middleweight either. He weighs less than 160 when he's training and can still boil down to 147. Him and Martinez will probably weigh the same on fight night.

It does nothing as regards his resume at 154 though i'll agree.

Well you gotta give'em credit since Martinez is a tough fight and one of the best at his weight.
But again fighting him at 160 ain't doing anything for his resume.I really don't buy this ''he can make 147 easy'' thing.Willams is a junior middle or a middleweight. The reason why this fight is at 60 is most likely the desperateness of Martinez who can't get a fight to save his life.

It's crappy preparation for Pavlik too. However, on the positive side, it does keep PW busy at a pretty high level of opposition.

Martinez wanted to fight Pavlik before Pavlik decided he wanted Williams, so we can be pretty sure that the winner fights KP next spring. It will totally suck if Martinez wins.

I'd like to see Paul try make 147lbs again as I'm not sold that he can still make that weight without it hindering his performance too much?

Paul has not fought at Welter since June last year, the rematch with Quintana. He look lean enough whe he weighs 157lbs, let alone 10lbs less.

I wonder if Margarito will call out Williams to box at Welter upon his comeback? If the money is there, then why not?
