Whoever saw Celestino Caballero's last fight vs. the dangerous Yordan knows how much did the freakisly tall Panamanian improved under Jeff Mayweather. First of all he uses a varied jab that controls distance and keeps opponents at bay and blinded, but his defense, coordinaion and footwork improved just as much. He looked awesome and finally using his physical gifts!

For me Paul Williams falls under the same category of Caballero, Cotto and Pavlik, fighters having the potential to be better overall boxers, but struck at a certain level with certain mistakes, either becuase of their trainers limitations or because it worked at a certain level, and why change it? This however lead to multiple losses.

I say PDub should consider hiring the Mayweather who doesn't brag about him being the best coach eva', but gets in the gym and does his job, and does it best in the family.

You can't train fighters where he's heading unless it's Ibeabuchi or James Kirkland in a couple of months.

I think they are all equal! You know Sr instilled the defense in Floyd.

They are all great trainers imo.

But this would be a good idea for Paul at least he would learn some damn defense !

Honestly i think Stewards bias commentating last night was due to Emmanuel being possibly interested in training Williams. Steward does very well with the taller long reach type build and he could teach Williams some much needed fundamentals.

Floyd Sr is a horrible trainer, i don't think he gave not 1 piece of good advice during 24/7 and he does that Yoel Judah BAM ZAP PING **** lol i dont see anybody calling Yoel "one of the best". I dont know Jeff Mayweather very much but i doubt hes better then Roger. Roger knows his **** and doesn't play games. i think part of the reason Roger Mayweather doesn't bash Pacquiao is because hes just a real G and calls it how he sees it. Pacquiao has given no reason to think hes on steroids other then kick peoples ass worse then they expected. Roger may does believe Pacs on PED's but he wont make a fool of himself talking bout bulletproof drugs and a side meth he know nothing about.

Remember he was training boxing's Golden Child Oscar for a very long time.

According to Oscar in his book, Joy Sr gives the best corner advice during the heat of combat, Steward is the best at knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each opponent, and Roach makes good gameplans.

Doesn't Paul train like a machine? I heard all he does is exercise and throw a **** load of punches.

Steward has a very relaxed style of training. He'll let fighters take a day off.

I think there's still chance for Williams to make the necessary adjustments, but he'll never become textbook, therefore Steward is a bad idea for him. Manny likes to force his style on you no matter if it's a match (Wlad, Cotto) or a mismatch (Taylor, Cintron), whereas Jeff pretty much lets Caballero being his usual self, but still making the necessary adjustments, and that's what Williams should look for.
