I keep hearing about the size advantage that Margarito had on Cotto, or how the freak of nature Paul Williams starves himself to make 147, but what about Celestino Caballero? Dont get me wrong the guy has no skills but with the size and reach advantage he has, who needs skills. Hes 5'11" with a 72" reach and is fighting at bantamweight 122lbs. His last two opponents were 5'4", and 5'5". I dont understand why he has never faced a top fighter at 122 or has never moved up in weight. Just wanted to throw this out to everyone bashing on the tall welters.
He beat Ponce De Leon before Juanma did. And uspet FOTY particpant Sithchatchawal in Thailand. He also just beat a very good fighter, Lorenzo Parr, in his hometown. Though Parra was very good flyweight mind you, where he won a belt and was looking very solid before getting upset.
Great points. Caballero flies under the radar but he's a pretty good fighter. It's not just his freaky size that brings the wins.
Problem is he looked god awful in one of his first American T.V appearences and has languished in obscurity since. People expected better of him, people expected a mini Hearns. And yes a lot of people actually said this and many were prepared to believe it. Then he has one **** fight and his is trash in everyones view. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.
