I;m tired a this crap. A close fight your man doesnt win so its a robbery. Please if the fight is decided by a point or 2 it cant be a robbery.
Did u forget that Martinez stunned PW a few times? PW did land more but most of those punches were grazing punches without much power behind them and MArtinez was just rolling those punches off. MArtinez did bring it.
i think most have established that it wasn't a robbery...but it was far from absolute...both fighters have proven that their skills and successes in the ring are not products of a fluke...i just hope Goosen will put his man back in the ring against Martinez at 154.
He got Out Worked! He should have thrown more Left hands and continued with his right hook. Im impressed with PW, Like Manny stated he Showed alot more Mental Toughness and down the stretch took the championship Rounds I wouldnt be mad if it was a draw but it was not and the right guy won. This is why i didnt understand folks being mad winky didnt get the nod over jt dude gave round 12 away.
people are just bitching about the score screw the score cards we all no he won reguardless of how wide a margine if we want to see it again then we need to demand it and this time will be better maybe martinez will jog 4 extra miles in camp and he wont fade
I don't agree...if Martinez got outworked, then Paul Williams got outclassed. The punisher was consistently taking more punishment and, on my scorecard, lost rounds 1,2,3,5,8,10,11.
It's hard to keep up that torrid pace when 1) your fighting 6 pounds above your comfortable weight and 2) you have a giant man laying on you the entire fight. BTW, i could see him getting tired, but I didn't think he faded. i gave him 2 of the last 3 rounds.
Martinez fights regularly at 154. He came in at 159, five pounds over his usual. Paul is a 147-lb fighter coming in at 157. That is no excuse. And Williams was not "layng on" Martinez. Watch the fight without blinders. Williams hurt martinez repeatedly, and every time he did, Martinez leaned on him, and held - Even pushed him out the ring once, and pulled him to the ground another time. Martinez also drew boos on one ocassions for just lying down on the canvas against the ropes after the referee broke p a clench. Dude was winded. And I think you need to rewatch if you gave martinez round 5.
I don't watch any fight with blinders, bud. Paul Williams was laying on him every time Sergio Martinez would crack him with a good shot...which was most of the rounds. Sounds to me, like I'm not to one who should watch the fight again...Sergio hurt paul in round 5 and easily landed the more effective shots. There were a lot of close rounds during the fight and would not argue with anyone acknowledging this...but, blinders? I have never been accused of wearing blinders while scoring fights...I'm about as unbiased as they come on this forum.
weight wasnt an issue martinez weigh in weight was higher than pauls martinez day of the fight weight was higher than pauls the fight being at 160 probably benefitted martinez more than pw
Martinez had never fought above 154...this was p will's 3rd fight at 160. How could that have benefited Sergio Martinez if he's a fighter that relies on quickness, speed, and using the entire ring?
Well I dont know nothing about Martinez past this last fight and he is a good fighter. I also did not know he had to come up, so maybe I was being a little hard on him for getting Tired. That could explain why he also look a bit out of shape. Next go round will be better. Reason why I state he faded because up until Round 6 I Thought this fight was on Path to being a Classic then Martines Out Put slowed and the rest of the fight just looked like williams goes in with 3-5 punches and get hit with 1 clean punch. You cant win Fighting That way unless your going to KO somebody. Which Martinez couldv if his Power didnt Disapear or Either PW adjusted to it. I loled at PW KD just now just thinking about it!
