Very briefly: outsmarted and outpunched mainly by quick inside left hands.

Quintana Used Slick Movement And Perfect Timeing, To Outbox Williams. Quintanas Lefthand Had A Radar On Williams Right Cheek & Paul Didn't Do Anything To Change His Defense.

NOT THE BEST, I THINK QUINTANA LOOKED BETTER AGAINST JOEL JULIO, BUT AFTER GIVING UP AGAINST COTTO IT WAS A HELL OF A WAY TO GET HIS FEET WET.

He was a completely different fighter than against Margarito. Quintana fought an excellent fight, but even from the first seconds it was apparent that Williams either took this fight way too lightly or had read too much of his press and praise (and I admit, I was one of those people praising him as the next top welterweight). His jab, which controlled Margarito all night was nowhere to be found. Even his corner was yelling at him to work off the jab, but he rarely did. Quintana beat him to almost every punch and punched much harder. Williams defense, which was excellent against the assault of Margarito was nonexistent. And, again, this was right from the first seconds of the fight. Quintana had great movement and Williams had no answer for it. He looked awkward the whole night. It was very strange.

Williams Was Trying To Use The Jab, Cq Was Just Catching It With His Left Glove All Night.

Williams looked like a counterpuncher's wet dream Saturday night.

I disagree. Even his corner was yelling at him because he wasn't working off the jab. For the most part he just pushed it out in front of him with no snap and then walked into punching range of Quintana. It was the worst fight strategy from a top-ranked fighter that I've seen in a long time. The strange thing is that it wasn't that he tired and got lazy after a few rounds and forgot what his strengths are, it's that he began the fight from the first punch with the worst fight strategy possible: walking into punching range of Quintana and not protecing his head from hooks. He's lucky he wasn't ktfo.

SURE THEY WERE, BUT WATCH IT AGAIN & YOU'LL SEE CQ STOPPING THAT JAB WITH HIS GLOVE. THEY COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS GOING ON, WATCH IT AGAIN THEN GET AT ME. THE THING IS THE SLICK MOVEMENT DIDN'T ALLOW WILLIAMS TO SET UP PUNCHES, & WHEN HE HAD AN OPPERTUNITY BECAUSE CQ WAS GASPING FOR AIR HE DIDN'T TAKE ADVANTAGE.

the Q is vastly underrated based on the Cotto debacle. That was a horrendous fight but the Q is a very talented fighter and Williams is not the type of destroyer that Cotto is and wasn't able to deal with the Q's speed and excellent boxing skills.:smoke :smoke

I agree that CQ was blocking punches and that his movement made Williams look like an amateur (I thought CQ fought a brilliant fight) and that Williams failed to capitalize on Quintana's exhaustion, but Williams still threw far fewer real jabs, jabs with snap on them. Watch the first 30 seconds of the fight. Right from the start, Williams just walks face first into a hook. A lot of the credit goes to Quintana, but you have to wonder what on earth Williams was thinking when he mapped out that strategy in his head. It was a recipe for disaster.
