With the rest of the top dogs at Welter facing off at the moment, this is a great opportunity for two title holders to unify, and give themselves a great shot at the winner of these upcoming match ups. This is what I am hoping plays out: Winner of Cotto v Mosley fights the Winner of Mayweather v Hatton. Unification bout. The winner of both of these fights then face off against each other. Whilst this match up is being made Williams fights against Cintron. Unification bout. The winner of the first mini tourney mentioned fighting against the winner of Cintron vs Williams for the undisputed welter weight champion of the world. If any of the top four guys (Hatton, Mosley, Cotto or Mayweather) can manage to win all three of these big fights in a row, then they would be making a very strong case to be mentioned as one of the greats. If Mayweather can win against Hatton, then Cotto/Mosley and then William/Cintron, and become the undisputed welterweight champ, then he would be making a strong case at being a top 15 ATG IMO. But before I get ahead of myself, how do you seen Williams vs Cintron playing out? A very intersting match up IMO.

Will it be the power of Cintron of the workrate of Williams. Williams does have a tendency to leave his chin hanging out there, and against one of the best punchers in the division this could very well spell trouble. Still, I think that IWilliams would take this one. Cintron still doesn't have an effective jab, and isn't fast enough to be able to counter the longer punches from Williams at range. Much like margarito he will have a lot of trouble figuring out how to handle Williams, but unlike maragrito I question his ability to withstand the opening rounds, and have the mental strength to break Williams down. Most likely, Cintron becomes frustrated at his own in-ability to negate the long straight punches of Williams, and much like against Margarito will start to shutdown mentally, giving Williams the stoppage victory in the later rounds.

Cintron would need to have great head movement and just keep coming forward, working Williams to the body. If he can avoid the jab/cross combinations and get a few solid shots in downstairs he might be able to knock a bit of the gas out of Williams. However, with Williams having such a big height reach advantage i can just see him punishing Cintron with the jab all night and cruising to a points victory. Margo had the right idea against Williams in the later rounds, Cintron needs to do that from the opening round if he is to have any chance

Cintron doesn't have the work rate of Marg though, or the experience. He isn't a fighter who naturally uses much head movement either, much like Marg as he is usually naturally taller then his opponents. Marg beat Cintron from range also by breaking him down due to his lack of an effective jab. Imagine what the fast and constant jab of Williams will do to him. I am expecting Cintron to maybe land a few big shots, but to gradually get worn down, and throw less as he crumbles under the constant offense of Williams.

Very dangerous fight for Williams. Cintron is accurate and packs a massive punch. If Williams can stay away, take a shot here and there, and use his physical advantages, I think he can win a decision by outworking Cintron - especially down the stretch. This would be a very good fight to see what level both guys are at.

Would be a great fight IMO. They both match up well to each other style wise. Both would have advantages to work, and Cintron will definitely have opportunity to utilise his power. So far Williams chin has looked very strong. But can it hold up to the best puncher in the divison?

Good post mate. You are exactly right in that head movement is the key here. He doesn't have the speed to rely on his movement alone to counter punch Williams. Being that Cintron is a taller guy, he doesnt usually move his head a lot, as he doesn't need to against shorter opponents. Whilst I am sure that Manny Steward will focus on this with him, I just don't think he will be able to make it effective enough to get the win.

Fair enough... I agree that it is a very hard fight to pick, and it in reality could easily go either way. Both have advantages in different areas, and both have weaknesses that could be exposed with the right gameplan.

i would say cintron takes this one style wise i dnt think he has to just sit there like margo cintron can box . yes williams throws a lot of punches but i think in this fight it would be quality of the punch not the quantito meaning cintron finds that chin and either gets a late ko or a ud . trust me williams willl hit the floor in this fight the question is can he get up from being knocked down...
