This fight was like JT/Winky in that it was a tough one to call and a draw would've been best. But i think if anyone won the fight, it was Martinez moreso than Williams.

I scoed 7-5 Martinez. No robbery, but he unquestionably landed the harder, cleaner shots, and clearly had Williams outboxed. The question is, he was getting badly outworked, and is the above enough to unseat his issue with getting swamped in the middle and late rounds?

I thought that 2-3 out of the 4 categories was enough, but I could see otherwise.

I am a new fan of Martinez. He treated Williams like a ***** for most of the fight.

Um, no he didn't win more rounds, unless you are biased for martinez.

And who cares who lands a higher percentage.

Are you telling me landing 3 out of 4 punches for a 75% rate is better than landing 10 our of 30 punches.

If Martinez had thrown more, missed more and landed more he might have won the fight.

Whomever scored 119-110 should be banned from boxing forever. I thought that either Martinez should have won slightly, or it should have been a draw.

Martines held in the fight 37 times. I counted the 2nd time I watched it. Three times he was warned to let go of Wiliiams because he wouldn't break when the ref tried to break them.

Hey, your bias or ignorance is making you miss out on a good sport and made you miss a great fight last night.

    Too bad.

If you look at the score cards you will see that Beniost disagreed with the other 3 Judges, including Harold Lederman, ONLY twice, not counting the 1st round. Only the 3rd & 10th rounds did he score differently then the other 3 Judges. Carter & H. Lederman disagreed once & J. Lederman disagreed twice.

    Rd - Carter - J. Lederman - H. Lederman - Beniost

One hell of a fight and no catchweight bull****. Martinez timing was amazing, and the way he was making adjustments was impressive as well. Paul did great making the proper changes to counter the adjustments as well. But over all I thought Maravilla was more effective than the punisher. I had it 6 rounds to Martinez 5 rounds to Williams and 1even. But I wouldn't argue against a draw or a close Williams dicision. that 119-110 was some very terrible **** scoring.

I have a new found respect for Martinez

I scored the fight for Williams by a few points (115-113), BUT it could have been different by a few points either way. All I am saying is that a lot of rounds were very close and could have gone either way.

I have talked to a lot of top boxing judges including Harold Lederman and they always say that you can have a close fight and the score will not show it because most of the rounds were very close and could have gone either way. You judge every round on it's own, just because one round is close and you give it to one fighter, that don't mean that if there is another close round, you give it to the other fighter.

The only 2 rounds that I would really question would be rounds 3 and 10.

If you take the scores of all 4 Judges, here's what you would get.

    1. Williams 2-1-1
    2. Martinez 4-0
    3. Martinez 3-1
    4. Williams 4-0
    5. Williams 3-1
    6. Williams 4-0
    7. Williams 4-0
    8. Williams 3-1
    9. Williams 3-1
    10. Martinez 3-1
    11. Even 2-2
    12. Williams 3-1

If you go by this, the score would be 117-112. If you gave the 11th round to Williams, the score would have been 118-111. Again, this is not how I scored it, BUT even if you take out Beniost's scorecard, the score between the other 3 judges would come to 116-112 for Williams.

Look I know all the officials that worked that bout very well, including the referee and Beniost. They are all very honest people. We were all together on November 12th, at the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Induction and Award ceremonies, which I have been the President of for the last 24 years. Maybe I am just trying to stick up for one of my friends.
