Only about %25 here think Paul won, and considering how many die hard fans Paul has on here and the fact that Sergio has none shows us just how clear the fight was. I thought it was close but this is fighting, not pattycake, Sergio inflicted damage, like you're supposed to do in a fight.

How many times did I see Martinez knock Williams back over and over again?! Martinez was the clear winner.

I'm no Williams supporter and I actually became a Martinez fan after watching this fight (first time I watched him was in the Bunema fight). But it's not accurate to say Williams didn't inflict damage, there is a reason Martinez backpedalled and gassed in the fight. Also, Sergio was visibly hurt in the end of the 4th round. Those effects can't occur with pitty-pat punches.

The reason Martinez backpedalled was plain to see......
Williams has better one shot power than he does.

Martinez would have gotten the worse of it, (imo KO'd) had he turned the aggressor.

What Martinez did was box......backpedal at angles and then stop on a dime to leach out punishing shots.

Thats what impressed me about Martinez......in was'nt a typical backpedalling type of performance......
Most backpedallers, go on the run retreating and just flicking there shots while on the move......
Most backpedallers while on the move back, just flick the jab and rarely land with power. This was'nt the case with Martinez......

Martinez was actually planting his feet. His feet had a grasp of the canvas when he was throwing his shots.
Which is the reason Williams head was being jolted every which way.

Rat tat tat tat moving, moving moving.....rat tat tat tat moving, moving moving......rat tat tat tat moving moving moving.....etc........

There was a reason for Martinez to retreat....and its because he had a nice rhythm of making Williams pay for his aggressiveness.
If you're continually jolting Williams with nice, hard, head jolting shots, whats the reason to change to another plan and stop retreating???

......in comparison, Williams was the aggressor, but even his connects had the steam taken off of them, because he was barely reaching Martinez at the very end of his punch travel.

Sure he landed a great shot, i'm just saying Martinez landed the obviously better shots. Martinez moved back because he's a boxer, he always moves back and to the sides. The intent is damage, and Sergio obviously did way more damage.

When Martinez got hit, he ran or held and acted like the punch bothered him. When Williams got hit, he fired back with mutltiple punches.

Williams punches were more effective if you actually observe the outcomes instead of cheering when your guy landed a punch.

A lot of people on here have fallen for the HBO subliminal messages. They constantly hyped martinez running and throwing of hail mary punches. Williams tagged martinez at will hurt him several times martinez throws one wild right hook and the hbo team talk about for a further minute disregarding all of williams clean and hot offence. Williams took that fight comfortably.

well 201 to 86 hardcore boxing fans who love boxing enough to look for it on the internet voted Martinez, what more proof do you need to understand that Martinez got ****ed? consider that he also took the fight on short notice imagine if he had time to prepare adaquately. No mention of a rematch? WTF?
