What talent? I remember when he turned pro.I recall his fights with many journeymen like Tony Booth. McDermott couldnt even turn up in shape. His grossly overweight and his cup is so high to hide his belly. McDermott found his level at area level. As soon as he moved into basic domestic contention he was shown up to be a sham. He got brutalised by Skelton, even Skinny Krence outworked him to a UD and against Danny he turned up as a sparring partner. John is going anywhere. Until he learns to get off the cream puffs and actually turn up in shape for once he`ll never amount to anything.
Couldn't agree more. That fat **** is an embaressment frankly. I've been trying to get one of my friends into boxing, sadly he tuned in for the Williams/McDermott fight & said he watched for a couple of rounds because he was mesmerised by John's rippling flab. He was asking me how someone that fat can be considered an athlete & commented on how **** the divison must be in this country if he is considered one of the best. I didn't have much of a defence.
My missus said the same thing. I blame the SKY team. They`ve been bigging up John for years. **** knows why.
Whats even more puzzling is the way they gloss over his obesity. Pretty bad in this day & age where there are concerns over how fat people are getting to be promoting an obese man as some kind of success.
Frankly, it doesn't inspire much confidence in Danny's chances against world class competition that he was nearly stopped by the man you just described.
Jim Watt is a bell end How anybody can score that fight to McDormott is beyond me You could give 5th 10-8 and the rounds that Williams lost 3 points were both his rounds so thats 9-8 and 9-9 and maybe McDermtt won another round in there somewhere I had it 113-111 to Williams i think
It was probably one of the hardest fights to score in the past few years. A lot of the rounds were very close - and the point deductions have to be taken into account. You could have it level at best for McDermott I would say - though Danny did look very surprised that he was given the decision. Notable for Dave Clark being an arse in the studio and Johnny Nelson actually scoring a round for a white fighter. Bizarre. How it took Parris 11 rounds to dock Danny for low blows was strange, perhaps the strangest thing of all.
I think most people thought it would..... How many of them do you feel were legit? For me, he should have been deducted three anyway - one for low blows early, another for low blows and a third for spitting the gumshield, which he did several times. The one for the little shove was very harsh.
I thought the fight sucked. Mcdermot bottled it... The fifth round proved that if he had of had the balls to lay it on the line he could possibly of won the fight instead of been left complaining about the decision.
To be fair Jeff, Williams showed plenty of bottle to be able to hang on there, and was holding on the inside pretty much the whole way through. Danny wouldn't have been able to have too many complaints had Parris actually jumped in at any point.
