Being a sucker for punishment I re-watched the fight on Sunday morning and being a bit of a saddo I scored it. IMO McDermott only clearly won one round (5th), I am loathe to score a round 10-8 without a knockdown but did so anyway. I gave him a share of round 1, 6 and 11 and resisted the urge to deduct points for him being a complete disgrace to British boxing, but beyond this I couldn't find a way of giving him anything else. With the Williams points deductions my card said 115-112 Williams.

I like Jim Watt, he was a half decent fighter and generally his comments during a fight are balanced and considered. However, his performance on friday night fell well short of what I would expect from the man and was one of the worst pieces of sycophantic punditry that I have ever seen. Watt gave McD the first 3 and last 4 rounds...thats a joke.

I wouldn't have had it that wide, I was thinking 113-111 - don't forget Danny was crap as well. He started pretty well, how they could give him the first three is beyond me. He was controlling the start of the fifth until the uppercut landed and put him on ***** street.

The nuthuggery was beyond belief, perhaps the worst we have seen on Sky Sports.

Maybe you are right. I was being distracted by my 10 year old daughter laughing her head off at McD's wobbly flab....she reckons he must have a thyroid problem, I reckon he eats too much. What must he have looked like on his pro debut? He came in at 252 on friday, but in his first fight he was craned into the ring at 266 FFS.

I watched it again on Sunday because I was bored, and my soon to be ex-girlfriend remarked how fat he was.

If he got down to 230 he would be much better. Faster, more stamina etc.

Not at all. I totally agree with him. To be a fighter you need to have a fighters mentality. John McDermott does not. You got to learn to finish your dinner. Judging by the size of his cup thats not normally a problem.

Fat ****s don't deserve to win anything. I think I'm going to watch Hopkins/Trinidad again, those dedicated pro's had to stay at the weight for an extra two weeks because of 9/11. The only discipline Big Bad John has ever shown is ordering only one portion of large chips with his two pies at the chip shop.

    McDermott is C level.

For Christ sake, when is Danny stop showing up for his fights grossly overwheight? I do believe he could be top 15 HW at 245lbs.

Williams was way overweight but at least he wasn't obese like that joke McDermott. Junk food gorging wrecks like John give the sport a bad name.

To be fair, McDermott's stamina would be considered moderate in the current division. He'll never be ripped, but he could lose a bit of padding.

To be fair he could do with finding a different vocation. One that involves food eating contests would be ideal. One that involves him being a guinea pig for lypo-suction or gastric bypasses would also be good for him.
