Great post and if I'm being honest I struggle to see Danny winning at world level. I'd love to see him give it a go though. :deal Danny is nearing the end of his career in my opinion and if he can wangle a title shot then great.
I know SKY have always tried to pass off this 'end of season' bull****, I just dont understand why there are fights still going on all over the world during 'end of season' & wasnt Warren supposed to have a bill on next few weeks until it got recentlycancelled? Surely it wasnt cancelled because the boxing season had ended Its just SKY being cheap *******s my good man:good
Hey people, I just noticed Derry Matthews is fighting tomorrow, someone will need to get on the phone to him & say "Derry you cant fight tomorrow, the boxing season has ended! What are you doing???"
Its honestly not mate. Theres always been a domestic 'boxing season' in the UK (as stupid as it sounds) it just varies how much weight it carries (ie. non outside the UK). I'm sure they'll be another old fart along to back me up eventually...;O)
End of season is clearly absurd. How the **** can boxing have a season, we don't give a **** if its raining outside :-(
Ha ha my mate asked me tonight if williams was fighting and commented that it was the 'end of the boxing season'. I was wtf is he talking about, povtkevin is on nuts tv tomorrow and I have never head of a 'boxing season' it not football! I caught the fight tonight and sure enough sky are calling it the end of the season lmfao! :rofl
Take the point about Williams being a bit long in the tooth. Just re-watched Danny's fight against Tyson (who was 38) and it was sad to see a once awesome fighter totally out of his depth. Williams, obviously the younger man, did what McDermott couldn't do to him tonight. (My kids who are Tyson fans are both in shock and didn't believe me when I said that Williams had cuffed their hero a few years back! Whenever the weans are bad, I think I'll replay that fight... Tyson, incidentally, looked about 90 when he was getting up off the canvas. God knows what was in his system in those days - it certainly wan't performance enhancing :rasta ; but fair play to Danny W, certainly did the business.)
McDermot had one really good round and that's it. Parris was a disgrace. Warning Williams for non-existent low blows even though McDermott's shorts were up to his tits (yes, tits). He didn't seem to mind McDermott locking onto Danny's arm for a good 20 seconds but Danny couldn't playfully put his hand on John's face? The Sky boys were cheerleading the home fighter as ever. Williams clearly won in my opinion. McDermott did better than was ever expected of him but let's not get carried away, he didn't win the fight.
Danny looked garbage, he lost even before the point deductions were enforced. The Judging was horrible and Mcdermot got jobbed bigtime.. I thought it was cringeworthy....... Williams once again failed to let the hands go.. John won the fight by outlasting Danny and bring it on when Danny least expected it.. Danny was on the end of a ten eight round at one point , and with the other 2 point deductions in a closish fight , Mcdermott deserved a win , no matter how slim, for Danny to get the win was just horrible for all who beared witness....
:good The only way McDermotts corner could get him moving forward was for the trainer to stand at the other side of the ring waving a pie on the end of a stick. I wouldn't mind but if Fat **** John actually dropped a few pounds he might have been more effective, obviously the word conditioning doesn't exist at his gym. Anyone else notice that by the end of the fight his eyes had uncrossed?, probably at the thought of triple fish and chips on the way home.
Danny probably felt like he was still fighting Airich. Dave Parris was that bad. Warning Williams every few seconds and McDermott could do what the **** he liked. An absolute joke.
I had Danny winning by one point, including the point deductions. John was far too hesitant, he looked alright when he got the jab going, but he seemed unable/reluctant to use it consistantly. I know Jim Watt has always cheerleaded Mcdermott, but he was showing ridiculous levels of bias, which in my opinion rubbed off on the rest of the sky team. The less said about Parris the better.
