Promoter Dan Goossen will announce on Wednesday a showdown between WBO welterweight champ Paul "The Punisher" Williams and IBF junior middleweight champ Verno Phillips, expected to take place on November 29th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The bout, which will be for the WBO interim 154lb title, will be Williams' second consecutive bout outside the welterweight division. In the co-feature, unbeaten heavyweight Cristobal "The Nightmare" Arreola takes on Travis Walker. Both bouts will be shown on HBO. Maybe someone wrote about this already and I missed it. How does Williams fight Verno for a interim WBO belt, when Verno has the IBF belt? Are they really trying to confuse the fans? If this is all true, it is going to be a easy victory for Williams and I don't think he can get back to 147 after this.
Thanks, I thought I was invisible there for a minute. I did say that I was not sure if someone already wrote about it and all of have been reading is about Hopkins win. It is for Verno's IBF title or the interim WBO title which I don't know why anyone would fight for an interim WBO title. Well, it does not make sense, but thanks for the heads up.
