Despite being inactive for so long, lets face it, Winky has the upper hand here. Not only does he have the far better resume, but he has more big fight options than PW at the moment. From what heard around the rumor mill, he has interest from Abraham, Kessler, Pavlik, among others. Why should settle for a 50-50 split against a relatively unknown commodity at 154+, especially when PW's not going to fight those guys. And what happened with PW's fight against Dzindiruk? Why did he bother to become his mandatory if he's not going to make the fight happen? Why do I get the feeling that this is just more posturing from Goosen, a la Pavlik, in an attempt to drive up his market price with hype instead based on his accomplishments in the ring? I wouldn't mind seeing this fight happen, but I'm not going hold my breath.

Williams is never going to land a big fight if he is always looking for parity against proven big name fighters. Let's look at who they have faced:

Williams: ancient Phillips, Margarito, 1-1 against Quintana

Winky: Hopkins, Quartey, Taylor, Trinidad, Mosley 2x, Vargas

Why would Wright give parity to Williams who hasn't really done anything or made a name for himself with the general public? Team Williams will be lucky to get 70/30. If he wants to spread his name out to the masses he's going to have to fight for smaller purses. Right now no one even knows who Williams is and that's a fact.

How do we know Winky isn't shot? He hasn't fought in almost two years, and he looked like he was starting to fade his last few fights.

That might be a good argument if Winky was a draw, but he's not.

50/50 is fair but Williams should cave in and not go any less than 60/40. Don't let this pass. Winky knows he doesn't got much of a shot especially when getting down to 154 all over again.

Draw or not he's fought better fighters and has a bigger name by far. If Williams wants Winky's scalp on his mantle he's going to have to pay to get it. Wright could care less if he has Williams' name on his already great resume.

That is the reality of the situation.

For the record I think Clottey would fair much better against PTP than Winky would. Their defenses are both on par with each other but Clottey's offensively superior imo. Winky's best punch obviously is his jab which I think won't be enough to keep PTP off of him. Clottey has a solid left hook that he can throw to the head and body also has a strong straight right. Power punches will be a necessary ingredient for either one of these guys to beat PTP and Clottey poses a bigger threat in that department.

50/50 seems pretty fair to me. Neither fighter has the definitive drawing power over the other. Wright may have had it a year back but he's been out of the public's eye for a while now (and isn't much of a draw anyway). Williams has fought 4 times and all of it has been on TV even if he didn't have blow away draw numbers.

    50/50 seems okay to me.

Winky should get more. 50/50 is a good starting pt 4 negotiations. Paul's team should work it out financially. A win over Winky would b great!

It should be 60-40 Williams split. Winky needs to stop being so difficult to negotiate with. He should know by now that he isn't an exciting marketable fighter
