Williams wants more than 1.5 million to fight Pavlik.

yeah if paul williams gets knocked the **** out and loses all his progress 1.5 is a ****ing joke....

remember this guy has a family too and yeah 1.5 is nice for us.... but in the general scheme of things if this fight is making a lot of money.. they could do better than 1.5.... if its 1.5 out of 3.5 williams is tripping

but we need more info to judge

 

1.5 million dollars is not bad. But you got to look at the brighter future if Williams wins it, he can get way more then 1.5 million dollars cause he'll be the champion in which he'll call all the shots. Some times a fighter needs to take the offer even if it's less cause if he wins it then he'll be genious of doing it.

 

There's 3 questions to come into play:

1) How much is Pavlik making?

2) How much is HBO REALLY offering?

3) What fight can Williams get that can come close to 1.5 mil?

I'll wait for the information to filter out...but IF this is the typical Goosen bull**** then I say 3 strikes and yer out.

It seems fair to me but what do I know. If he really wants big fights heres one right in front of him. If he's confident in getting the win he should take the short end as a challenger and a lesser draw. This is probably the best option for both men right now even though I think Williams is a little small for Pav but if he's confident that's what matters.

- hbo is offering up to 3.75 million for the fight... pavlik would get 1.75 and williams would get 1.55 and top rank would get 500k. Hbo wants the date of sept 26th to pair it with the replay of floyd mayweather - jmm fight. Top rank was offering 1.25 to williams and raised it to 1.55 last week. HBO is pushing the fight to happen but they may have to offer up more money to make it happen & thats a long shot based on their tight budget

the big road block is the gate and the money coming in from the sponsors (estimated to be a few million). goosen wants to split the gate/sponorship money down the middle and of course top rank is not going to do that. top rank bases their position on the fact that regardless of whether or not its williams in the other corner- pavlik will sell out the boardwalk hall in ac. based on that obviously top rank does not see a reason to give goosen/williams a piece of the gate or their sponorship money.

Dude, get it out of your head.. Williams WILL NOT fight Pavlik. Even if team Pavlik agrees (like they did last time) team Ducky-Duck Williams is gonna turn around, demand something EVEN higher, and then come back and claim team Pavlik is scared.. We've been thru this before.. remember?:think

 

The report on Boxing Scene states that the hang up comes from Goosen wanting a 50/50 split on the gate and sponsorships. Arum's position is that Pavlik could sell out boardwalk hall fighting a broom stick, and Arum is right. Since when does the challenger get to make a bunch of demands. Paul William's aint exactly Pacman or Oscar when it comes to drawing power. Pavlik on the other hand does very well on the live gate. It would be his crowd, so PWilly needs to just take the $1.5 million, climb in the ring and do his thing. All he has to do is make an exciting fight, and he'll gain fans and respect. He doesn't even have to win to make his stock rise.

Very true. We've been hearing the duck for too long and it always seems that he has willing fighters his damn promoters are just fukin up. It seems as though if he wants fights he better leave Goosen.
