Williams has stated he will box anyone from Welter to Super-Middle & clearly, he is being avoided. Props to Verno Phillips, a guy who's been boxing for 20 years, for taking a fight against an elite fighter. Normally, when a guy is near the end of his career, he could be excused for wanting to face less sterner foes than Williams! I reckon Williams will be avoided by the his peers, definately for the foreciable future. I mean, who, of the big names, can we see fighting Paul? Margarito has already turned down $4M to face Williams & is now facing Mosley, who is clearly an easier fight! I know its wishful thinking, but maybe Mayweather will decide to face Williams? Then again, we knoqw its all about money for Floyd & there is simply not enough money for Floyd in that bout. WTF does Williams have to do in order to get a highly lucrative bout? Damn, the guy is gonna have to move up to HW at this rate, because its clear people don't fancy facing him. The guy is a fcuking freak at Welter. Wingspan of 82' which is more than Vitali or Wladamir lol!
He said he would fight Dzinziruk and Dzinziruk said he will fight him...I wonder what's gonna happen?
I know of a few fighters at 154 that will probably fight him. Sergei Dzinziruk, Santos and Forrest would all be good fights there.
Angulo is too green to fight Williams and would lose a wide UD. Perhaps a few years from now we could see them fight.
Williams will get schooled by the top fighters at 160 and definitely by a lot of guys at 168.. Theres a few fighters at 147 and 154 that I can think of that could probably beat Williams.. Williams can be easily outbox and Quintana can prove that.. Theres been a few guys who have called out Williams, but instead of accepting their proposals, he talks **** on them.. I think all this weight jumping will effect him in the long run as well..
Quintana didn't prove anything. Quintana fought the fight of his life and Williams looked terrible. Despite this, it was still a relatively close fight. Name me a fighter that made an offer to Williams that Williams rejected.
Williams has gotten better with his defense. He's not a great defensive fighter, but he's not porous either.
I think any fight for Williams with a top 10 at 154 is tough even old man Forrest but id give him the upper hand on most.
He got tagged but not plenty. Phillips landed only 91 punches the entire fight and only landed 23% of his punches. Williams is doing a better job of getting out of range once he throw his combos. Williams is an aggressive fighter who throws a lot of punches. He has a good chin, and he's not afraid to take chances. He's going to get hit. However, his defense has certainly improved and I would not describe it as porous. You rarely saw Phillips landing more than one punch at a time.
He was still beaten by Quintana.. Do you not think he can be outboxed if you put him in there with someone with some skills and is able to last 12 rounds? I never said Williams rejected any fights.. I'm saying people have called him out, such as Clottey and Dzinziruk..
