yeah but he lost to a bum that was blasted out by cotto....you have to understand many many americans said floyd mayweather had to beat williams to be called legitmate.....hhahahahahahahahaha
For someone that didn't see the fight, your'e being pretty boisterous. So Spinks doesn't have much pop, big deal, he's beaten better quality guys that Williams has thats for sure. Had you saw the fight you'd see how ridiculous the notion thats been echoed here of Floyd avoiding him was. You'd see him getting hit with lefts FLUSH and how Quintana literally picked and popped him. You'd see how Mr 100 punches a round can't adapt and has poor defense. You would have seen how Quintana took rounds off and still was able to land on Williams. Don't get me wrong, I like Williams especially for knocking off that fraud margarito. But he was untested and while one loss doesn't mean much. Maybe people will THINK before they jump a bandwagonand say the #1 pound 4 Pound guys is running from people who are one trick ponies..
7-5 Quitana is the absolute highest benefit you could have given Williams. Had Quintana any stamina what so ever, Williams would have been TKO'd, he ran out of gas by round 5 and had to just 'do enough' to take rounds really tired, but he did take most of the later rounds clearly and Williams was a bloody, bruised mess from CARLOS QUINTANA. Let's put this into perspective, many people and moronic 'experts' were hyping Williams to be a future P4P elite star, yet a guy that Cotto crushed just made him look stupid. A guy who's just 'decent'. This is not throwing anything in Paul Williams' face, he deserves all the respect of being a professional boxer and being a top 10 professional boxer at that, it's a smack to all of those idiots who cannot analyse **** and they are the reason so many hype jobs are taken in.
forrest ko's williams at 154,pw can still be a major player at 147 although this loss couldnt have come at a worst time
Well, I'll just take this opportunity to say I was indeed wrong about Williams. Floyd would get the job done. I always said Cotto would beat him though.
ive been saying it for a long time. Williams will soon be in a no mans land. He won't be able to fight at 147lbs much longer. Sure he could fight at 154lbs, But I honestly think some of those guys would seriously out muscle him. Vernon Forrest would beat him I think. 2ndly Williams CANNOT fight at 160, He would get decapitated. He will soon be a man without a division.
Had nothing to do with technique. Had everything to do with Williams being unable to fight a sloppy, wrestlefest with a much smaller man. For whatever reason that is, I haven't a clue. I'm sure most here would agree that Tszyu was a far superior boxer to Hatton. But Hatton's wrestling style made it an even playing field. Williams is not a bad fighter at all. Just lacks strength for some reason (probably cutting too much weight).
Calling Quintana A Bum Is Just Wrong, He Had A Big Loss To Cotto. And Came Back Of That Loss To Give Williams His First Loss. When Williams Was At His Top Hype. Regardless If Williams Is Infact All Hype Like Some Here May Say(i Wont Say That). But Quintana Came In Against A Guy Who Everybody Was Saying Was Going To Pound Him Out. After The Lost To Cotto To Come Back The Way He Did Proves He's No Bum.
Your absolutely right. Most of Williams fight have been against nobodies (many with losing records). The lack of experience showed.
That --- walking a fighter down leading with your face technique wont work at 147 and will work less at 154. The bigger you go -- so does the powere on the punches that you are receiving.
