Jesus, way too soon. I'd much prefer him to go for Kiko than to take this. Although maybe they figure if they lose he can take a fight against Kiko afterwards. He probably wont take much damage off Rigo.

He will probably lose to Martinez so why not go for Rigo and cash out.

 

Mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it will be another world title fight in Ireland which is great, on the other hand, Rigo will box rings around Casey with ease.

I'd prefer he fought Kiko to be honest.

 

Why? This is a stupid move by Casey and his team. He's 28, he still has some time on his side, unlike Rigondeaux. He'd be much better off fighting Kiko.

 

i agree, i'd like to see him fight martinez first. if hyde is so anxious to bring rigo to ireland then surely this can wait. the experience casey would get against martinez would be invaluable. if he defeats martinez then he'll have seen off 2 european mandatory challengers and you could justify him going for a world title shot.

you have to love his attitude though...

 

To go from starting out, to winning prizefighter, to winning an EBU title to landing a world title shot in a year is ****ing ridiculous and unheard. Willie Casey has balls the size of watermelons.

He would just lose that fight to. If you gonna lose a fight you may as well do it for the most amount of cash.

 

What makes you so certain he would lose to Martinez? He is far from unbeatable.

 

Would he lose to Martinez? I'm not sure. It's a close fight that could go either way IMO, unlike if he fights Rigo, which goes one way, and it's not towards Limerick.

I don't, I give him a much better chance against Kiko.

What do you think the difference in cash would be between the two fights? How many more tickets would a fight against Rigo sell?

Maybe it makes sense if they know they can come back and get the fight with Kiko afterward, then they can risk it for a biscuit and in the worst case be back where they are right now. But whats to stop one of the other SBW prospects fighting Kiko in that time, taking the title and freezing Willie out.

 

Wait a sec. How is it for a world title? Is it the Interim title that Rigo gained when he beat Cordoba?
