I have seen 3-4 Hyland fights. He is an Irish level fighter. Munroe, Booth, Frampton, Quigg, Joe Murray would all beat him in a simular fashion to Casey. He was the mandatory because Munroe vacated, Booth went for a world title and Mulotrudoe got injured.

Its the same opinion that is shared by an Irish insider who knows both Rigo and Casey camps very well. He said to me the exact words "They are just cashing out on Casey, hes not actually any good" and this was Martinez withdrew.

I'm well aware of the sequence of events. The fact is after he beat Dunne, and with with Cab and Juanma leaving the division, Poonswat was seen as the best in the division. He was also the main WBA champion which he got from beating Dunne. If Cab had gone up earlier and any of those fights had been for a vacant title you would have no problem with it. Or if a British fighter had beaten Cordoba of course.

Munroe who can't crack an egg would stop Hyland in 4? Stop talking **** Rob. Whether you rate Hyland or not is irrelevant, he is a good fighter who Casey stopped impressively.

Who is this insider who thinks Casey is no good?

The idea Hyland would beat Martinez is completely laughable.

Yep, he'd be walked down and stopped inside four rounds.

Loughlan..... you are correct, it was the only time I've seen Hyland. The fact that he struggled like hell with such a limited journeyman would indicate that he isn't that good.

All the best prospects bang opponents like that out inside a couple of rounds..... Casey would have done, after all.

Cabalerro has 2 fights after the Dunne vs Poon fight. It was not a true world title even if you count 4 belts. Its nothing to do with nationality.

Cab hasn't fought at SBW since before the Dunne/Poon fight

Lukin has only been stopped once. Martin Lindsay is a very good prospect but he couldn't stop him

This thread is not about Hyland anyway, it's about Casey so I will get back on point. I still don't get why the opinion is that he is just not that good when he's beating everyone put before him. I don't give him much chance against Rigo but there's no reason why he can't beat Martinez or similar level fighters.

How so? Martinez isnt all that. Hes got a dig but for goodness sake pitter patter rope puncher Munroe discouraged him:rofl

This fight makes sense. Casey isnt on some protege route to super stardom - hes a fighter who fights for money. Rigo will bring decent money to the table from US tele and if Casey gets outboxed and outclassed, he will pick him self up, come home and fight martinez for the title.

I know its alien to British fight fans but...... Undefeated young fighter takes big risk!!!! Shock!

Munroe discouraged him after the initial onslaught, when Martinez realized he had to slow down or risk blowing his load against such a durable opponent.

Hyland wouldn't get past that initial onslaught. He´s a vulnerable fighter with no power, hardly a good look against a pressure fighter with power. He's not good enough to outbox Martinez for 12 rounds. Think about that...Hyland outboxing him for 12 rounds without getting hurt and finished considering what just happened against a pressure fighter in Casey.

It's absurd, Hyland is very very average.

Apologies - I read it as Csaey had no chance to beat Martinez

Clearly Hyland has less of a chance agreed but I feel a bit of lateral movment renders Martinez useless.

    Anyway! Casey v Rigondeux!

A prize fighter winner coming from nowhere, regardless of nationality should be cheered by everyone on here!

    I meant Cordoba.

Cordoba vs Dunne - March 09
Caballero vs Mathebula - April 09
Caballero vs Leal - August 09

All for the WBA Super Bantamweight title....so Dunne never won a real world title.
