Willie Limmond claims he is a world champion, wants to defend WBU in football stadium

PROMOTER Tommy Gilmour last night dangled a £100,000 carrot in front of Scots Lee McAllister and Gary McArthur.
The pair will be put together for the most lucrative fight involving two Scotsmen since Alex Arthur fought Craig Docherty for a £70,000 purse at Meadowbank in 2004.
But the fight can only go ahead if Aberdonian McAllister beats Godfried Sowah for the Commonwealth lightweight title in the Granite City on June 19 and McArthur overcomes Arek Malik in Clydebank the previous weekend.
Gilmour said: "If they both win their fights I would try to get them into the ring together for the Commonwealth title.
"We're talking about the two biggest motormouths in Scottish boxing. The build-up to the fight would be a talk show the public would pay to see."

Could be some tasty fights in the pipeline in scotland!
ie, McAllister v Limond, McArthur or even Arthur? or just any matchups involving two of those four would be good to watch.
Gotta be impressed by the work Gilmour has done at getting this fight for McAllister.
I`m pretty sure they could sell out Pittodrie (or even Fir park) and the money generated would be a hell of a pay day for any of these guys.

I agree with you and think it good you are taking a robust position. These titles and those who fight for them,especially if they then claim to be fighting for a 'world title' need to be exposed for the charlatans they are in trying to defraud and mislead the public.

Isn't McArthur the guy whose career Gilmour almost ruined trying to gurantee himself two finalists in prizefighter: Scottish Edition?

 

again you make statements you know nothing about rob,you havn't a clue how much these boxers earn or have earned and frankly its none of your buisness.

 

He beat Choi rob. He's beat a host of decent domestic level guys too.

 

Billy - Whilst I and many other posters on here (including Rob i'm sure) all appreciate the fact that yourself, Willie and other trainers and boxers come onto this site and give valuable imput and chat with us all..... Why do you expect to be able to come on here and no-one to talk bad of your boxers or what they do ?
This is a site for people to air their greivances and opinions. You really shouldn't take it so personally that someone on here may not like your fighters or whatever.
I am of the opinion that if Willie wants to fight for a particular belt, then good luck to him. Lets face it 95% of the posters on here was/are never good enough, nor do we have the commitment/balls or skills to make it in the this so often brutal sport. I for one would give my right arm to be called the 'World Boxing Union Champion'. Good luck to all the lads and may they (if nothing else) leave the sport with their health and a bit of money in their pocket !
